“He’s coming!” Jake is still yelling from the other side of the wall. “I have visitors!”
“Goddammit,” Stefano hisses as he backs against the wall of the tunnel with the rest of us. “Is he going to keep yelling that until we get caught?”
“Then let’s just go,” I say, motioning to the other side of the tunnel. “We don’t have to wait here.”
“I wholeheartedly agree with her,” Celeste pipes up, looping her arm around mind. “Can we go?”
“No,” both boys say once again.
Celeste and I both sigh, but we know that we can’t really leave without them. Especially since Jake is still screaming the same thing and we might get discovered here. Now that we don’t have a choice and nowhere else to go, we’re forced to stay silent and listen as footsteps echo from the infirmary room.
