"You knew people were after me." Robbie said it as more of a statement. "How?"

Shit, I can't lie to my mate. Nobody can. It's a bond more than humans can understand. All I want is to open everything to him. My mind, my heart, my legs. "Someone attacked us. Nikita protected me. What is going on Lee?" Robbie directed his focus on Lee. Thank goodness, I can stay quiet, I'm sure Lee can come up with something easier than I can. The scowl on Robbie's face made me want to shift and get revenge on the bastards that attacked. But Kyle took care of the two in the trees, I wish he would tell me what's going on with the last.

"I'm sorry, Robbie." Lee had sadness written all over his face. You could tell he was sincere in this apology. "I lied to you earlier."

"Well, you have time to be honest now. What is going on?" Robbie pronounced the last words slowly and aggressively.

"Nikita is a body guard for hire. She may look small, but her training has taught her how to do things beyond the capabilities of a normal girl her size. She may be small, but trust me, her bite is worse than her bark." Lee's lip curled on one side, he was smirking at me. I inwardly laughed at the comment. "She is one of the best guards of my dear friend Leonard. I asked Leonard to have her accompany us to keep you safe. Do you know why you are being targeted?"

"No! I have no idea! I never got to ask dad before he was killed. I just want to know!" Robbie practically screamed. I just wanted to tell him everything. About our existence, about the wolves ready to kill him. I don't know why he is being targeted though. Why do wolves want him? What does a human have to do with our kind anyways? I have questions too. I wonder if Lee would explain it to me.

"Your father killed one of them. And your uncle-"

"I don't have an uncle" Robbie interrupted Lee. "It's just my mother and sister now. If my father did something, are they in danger?"

"No, Robbie. You are in danger. They are perfectly safe" Lee said with certainty. "If you are worried about them, call. They will answer, I assure you."

"Of course Robbie, are you sure everything is alright?" You could hear the seriousness and worry behind her words.

"Yeah, everything is alright, I am just exhausted from the day. I have to get going. I love you." Oh, I know it wasn't directed toward me, but hearing those words made my wolf go crazy. She so desperately needs her mate. I need my mate.

"I love you too sweetie, get some rest, tell Lee I said hi." She ended the call before anything else could be said. Robbie slid his phone back in his pocket.

"Alright, hey Lee" pausing for a moment he replied. "I really am getting tired."

"You've had a long day, I was going to suggest you get a hotel room with Nikita" Lee said it more toward me than anything. He had a piercing look in his eye. "But, I need to talk to you first."

"Of course, sir." I said looking down. I knew the power in his voice, my wolf felt it. Even though he wasn't my alpha, he is an ally alpha. So his word goes when I'm sent on any mission with him.

"Robbie, go ahead and get in the car, we are taking a new one." Lee told him as we walked toward the darkest black Escalade I've ever seen. It sat high on silver rims. All the windows were so dark, nothing inside could be seen. The chirp sounded to signal Lee had unlocked it right when Robbie was reaching toward the handle. Robbie stepped up into the large SUV, and shut the door.

"Nikita, look at me" I could feel the anger from Lee coming in waves. I looked into his eyes. So dark. "Under no circumstances do you tell him about our kind"

Shit. I can't lie to my mate, but he just gave me an order. I have to follow it. I couldn't betray him if I wanted to.

"Yes, sir." I replied like a lost puppy. I was torn. If Robbie asked me questions, I'd have to carefully answer. Lee started walking toward the driver seat. I hurried over to the back passenger door. Opening the door, I gasp. It was amazing inside. White leather seats, with gold trim. The roof was white, with a golden square above the front seats. Must be a sunroof. It was amazing. My wolf loved it too, she's a little egotistical. I looked at Robbie as I climbed into the vehicle. Wow, I almost had to jump to get in. I giggled to myself and seen Robbie catch my eye in the side mirror. I blushed and he kept staring.

Lee started the engine and pulled out of the parking lot. Robbie was still looking at me. I couldn't look away, I hope my face doesn't show how much I need him. I could hear Robbie's heart. It was very fast. I hope he calms down before we get to the hotel.

"So, what happened with my father and those men?" Robbie's voice sounded so sad.

"I don't know the full story," Lee was lying through his teeth, I could hear his heartbeat quicken through the words. "All I know is he took something from them."

Lee stopped talking. He was done. He realized he had said too much when Robbie said he didn't have an uncle. He was finished with the conversation. Outside I hear Kyle's claws hit a branch.

"He got away." Kyle's voice filled my mind.

"f**k, how did that happen?" I asked, pleading for some answers. I wanted that wolf dead for trying to hurt my mate.

"Lee even ran after him with me. We were ready to kill him, but he was fast. Much faster than we originally thought. He must have been a scout."

So, that's why Lee looked so unkept. He'd tried to chase the bastard down too. Kyle would have to stay on perimeter for the entire night. I'd make it up to him with some pancakes in the morning.

"Lee wants Robbie and me to go to a hotel for the night. I'll need you to stay on guard for the remainder of the night. In the morning I'll make you some pancakes!" I sucked up to Kyle so he wouldn't interfere with my night with Robbie. Even though Lee would be there, I still wanted this.

"Alright, but you better have strawberry syrup. Damn, how far are we going? And why are you staying in a hotel with him? You can't tell him anything. If you do-"

"Shut up Kyle. I know what I have to do, what I can't do, and what I want to do." I interrupted Kyle before he pissed me off. "I'll get some supplies in the morning."

Kyle was done talking. He ran with us in silence the rest of the way. It was a long, soundless hour before we reached our destination. The car started to slow, and we pulled in.

The building was huge. Maybe the largest hotel around. Probably very expensive. The stairs to the front doors were adorned with a red carpet, silver railings, and silver trim. There were two double doors, and between the pairs, a single rotating door. I thought the manor was fancy, it couldn't hold a candle to this building. This hotel had to have at least 50 floors.

"Go check in under the name Ferra" Lee spoke briskly. "I have some matters to attend to."

"I'm going to expand the search, keep your ears alert." Kyle huffed. He was in the nearest wooded area. Out of eyesight for any normal human.

Robbie stepped out of the car, looking in Kyle's direction. He stopped for a moment, wide eyed. He didn't see Kyle did he? No, there is no way he did. Kyle's fur would blend perfectly into the trees. No human could see him. I smirked a little, knowing Robbie was so oblivious but so close to everything too. I want him close to me. We walked through the left set of double doors, my eyes scanned the room. The ceiling was so high, I could see a balcony up the stairs. It overlooked the entire lobby. This hotel was stunning. I felt underdressed for a place like this. My eyes looked toward Robbie as we walked to the receptionist. He seemed comfortable, but still on edge. "Welcome to The Extravaganza Hotel, my name is Jared. How may I help you?" Jared asked with a glimmer in his eye.

Robbie stepped in first. I was trying to listen for Kyle's position, then stepped in after realizing Kyle was located about three hundred yards to the northwest. He must be near the closest trees to the hotel. It angered me that he wasn't expanding the search. I wanted him further away.

"Increase the perimeter and let me know if anything happens." I told Kyle.

"Okay, be good!" Kyle joked. I mentally scowled at him.

"So, um, are you alright?" Robbie asked me, breaking my talk with Kyle.

"Huh?" I was confused. Why was he asking me if I'm alright?

"Did.. Did that guy hurt you?" Robbie looked at me with an apology in his eyes. I don't want him to hurt. Especially not worry for my safety.

"Oh! No, no I'm perfectly fine," I awkwardly rubbed the back of my neck while breaking eye contact. Normally I'm so graceful, why can I not focus around him? Is this what everyone goes through when they find their mate?

"Good, I was worried. I'm surprised you were able to throw him like that." Robbie chuckled a bit. His laugh was the most amazing sound I've ever heard. Before I realized, the door opened again. We stepped out into the long hallway together. I looked left, many doors lined the walls on either side. They looked like they were stained with blood, how fitting in this situation. The walls were a light beige with a floral pattern. The floor, of course. Red carpet. The room was magnificent. It was gold with white trim and red accents. As we walked through the hallway from the door, it opened into a large room with an intricately carved chair in the corner and one bed, covered with golden silk sheets and pillows to match. Wait, one bed?
