Saving The Princess

Alianor      It was a very dark, cold and rainy night. Fear took over us as we tried to escape our fate. We kept running for our lives through the forest that surrounded our castle. We were not safe anywhere.    Carrying my little jewel in my arms, we were facing the most feared race in our Kingdom. Humans. They were so adamant about getting rid of us, so they would do whatever it took to end our existence.    Ulric, my husband, and the King of Gargodom was trying to protect us. Every single one of us.      "Run Alianor!" he yelled while we kept running away from the hunters who were chasing after us.     They had crossed our portal and started hunting every single one of our Gargoyles here. If we didn't escape, we would all perish. It was a mystery at how they found a way to cross to our world.   Only a few of us were left, but us being the King and Queen, were the perfect prey and we were eventually trapped and attacked. Every Gargoyle alive was able to fly away to safety. After a while, we were able to escape but our wings had been cut and we didn't have any choice but to run as fast as we could.   Still bleeding from our backs after that horrible attack, we kept running and carrying our baby girl in my arms. We couldn't stop and we didn't have any idea where we would end. We reached a cliff, and I thought that was the end of us. I looked at Ulric with teary eyes. My fear was increasing, and I was on the verge of panic.      “Ulric, we're trapped. What are we going to do?" I said, finally letting my tears out completely. I was so scared for our little girl. She was surprisingly calm, sleeping through everything. He held me against his chest and he kissed mine and our daughter’s foreheads. His strength was reassuring and his smell of pine and mint was calming.   Then the unexpected happened. He pulled me next, and we jumped off the cliff.      I couldn't look down, I focused on the hunters that were standing at the edge watching us fall with smiles on their faces. That was it. That was the day we will die. Rocks and Water waiting down below for us to reach the end of our lives. I held my baby close to my arms, trying to protect her from an imminent death.     Suddenly, the portal that looked like a cloud of dust opened and sucked us in. We ended in an unknown city, but we knew it was the human world. The portal knew where to take us.      "Humans" Ulric growled and took us to a hiding place. I had the feeling our baby girl could be safe here despite being in our enemies' territory.     We kept going until we saw a couple walking by. We left our daughter wrapped up in a special little blanket handmade with love by one of our handmaidens on one of the wooden benches for them to see.     "Here, little Thea. You'll be safe in this place. We hope to see you soon" I heard Ulric say while I sobbed quietly. It was painful to leave her here, but we had to do it, or else she would be in danger.      I walked over to her and kissed her cheeks "don't forget us little one, we'll come back for you. We love you". Leaving her a small locket with our names engraved on it for her to remember us by, I smiled and put it on her little neck.     She started crying, and we saw that the human couple had heard her and started coming our way. We decided it was our time to go.    The portal opened again as if it was meant to tell us our deed was done and she would be safe.   Looking back, I could see the couple starting to jog towards our crying Thea, and the woman held her in her arms.      "Goodbye, my love" I said as we walked back into the portal. We would be back for her. Very soon.    Isabel     "Jack, look" I pointed at a cloud that had formed in the park right after we heard the cries of a baby. Could it be? I was not sure if it was them, but that cloud was well known by me.      My husband and I ran to the park, and we found a baby abandoned on one of the benches. The cries were extremely loud. I took the baby in my arms before we walked back home. What kind of person would abandon their little baby here?      “It is a little girl Jack" I said as he was preparing a warm bath for her. We bathed and fed her. Something was pulling me to her and I didn't want to put her down. I started singing a lullaby to soothe her, although she didn't need it, since she was so calm.      "What should we call her?" I asked him. He looked at me and then at the baby.    "She looks like she could be a Stella, our little star" He replied smiling back at me. When I was going to put on a onesie I had lying around from my time as a babysitter, I noticed a bump starting to show in the middle of her back. It was slowly forming, showing a purple color on it.      "That wasn't there when I bathed her" I murmured, surprised. I had a feeling I knew where this girl came from. The Royal Gargoyle family in the Gargodom Kingdom.     I confirmed my suspicions when I looked at the bottom of her foot and a tattoo of a moon and a star were there. I let out a deep breath, and I felt a little nervous.     I called Jack, and he quickly came into the room. I showed him the bumps and her tattoos. "The Royal family was here. This must be their princess, " I said. He looked at me, shocked. He was speechless for a moment.      "It has been years since we last saw them, there is no way they could travel here without a reason" he replied trying to make sense of the situation.      Years ago, when we were Gargoyle Hunters, we were the best of our kind. But seeing the way they tortured them before finally killing them, we ran away from their world and back to ours. Now it looked like fate was calling us again. And this time, in the form of a beautiful baby. It would be our job to keep this little creature safe instead of hunting her.     I just hoped that the King and Queen will come back for her soon. We promised to take care of her until that happened. Because if they left her here, it must mean they were being chased by someone evil, someone who would not stop at anything until he got rid of every single one of them.    "You are safe with us little star. We will protect you with our own lives, I promise".
