MATES!

VIVIAN The injuries I sustained from fighting the Alpha King were numerous, so I waited to heal and study the Salvatore estate blueprint before going in. Then, I developed a plan. From my research, I learnt that the Salvatore brothers had a niece who was home for the summer. This girl, Mira Salvatore, went to yoga classes every evening, and this is where she'd be my ticket in. All I needed to do was find a way to get into the trunk of her car, and she'd be the one driving me in. After a while of watching her and her security like a hawk, I was finally able to get in the trunk. My heart began to race because I hated tight spaces, and it triggered memories where my bullies would lock me up at the orphanage and I'd starve for days. The car began to move, and I forced myself to calm down. I had already taken precautions to hide my scent, and I didn't want emotions bringing it back to the surface. It took a while, but my plan worked, and I came out into the private garage of the Salvatores. Damn! My colleagues weren't lying when they said the Salvatores were stinkingly rich. They had some of the most expensive cars I had ever seen and power bikes, too! My wolf immediately became restless as the air carried faint sweet scents that drew me in. It smelled like a mixture of forest, citrus, and Oud. The more I sniffed the air, the more my mouth watered. Shaking my head, I maintained my focus and continued the mission. Their security was beyond top-notch. Every space was covered with hefty, fierce looking men that looked like they could easily snap little me in two. I had to dodge security cameras every five minutes and wait before moving again. It was exhausting, but eventually, I did it! I made it to the room where the amulet was supposed to be. Grinning like a Cheshire cat, I picked the locks and slid in. The moment I did, the temperature of the room suddenly dropped, making me hug myself immediately. There was nothing else in the room except a small pillar, and on this pillar was a head statue. Going on my belly, I checked for security wires and laser beams, and as expected, everything was in place. Getting to work, I turned off the laser beam by tampering with the circuit and side stepped the tripwire. In half an hour, I was walking to the statue, with my heart pounding fast and my face barely containing a smile. My colleagues will envy me, and I will be known as the best thief in the world. The statue came into view, and then my smile dropped. Now, it felt like my blood had run colder than the temperature of the room as I stared at the statue. The amulet was there, no doubt, hanging around the neck of the stone sculpture, but that wasn't what made me feel like I was going to have a heart attack. It was the fact that the statue was female and she looked exactly like me. I forgot myself, took a step back, and tripped a wire. Immediately, alarm sounds filled the air, and I was instantly shocked to my senses. Snagging the amulet, I ripped it from the neck of the statue, and when I saw a large iron gate about to come down around me, I rolled on the floor and barely made it out. Unfortunately for me, the window had bars but I have a solution for that. I came with my own makeshift bomb, placed it at the window, and went for cover. By that time, footsteps were thundering down the hallway, and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. It would really suck if I got caught right now. BAM!! The window exploded, pushing out the iron bars and creating a much larger hole. Without wasting a second, I dashed for it, bringing out my rope and quickly tying it to the iron gate in the room. Once secure, I tied it around my waist and climbed the hole in the wall. Just then, the door burst open with such force that it fell off its hinges. Startled, I turned around, and the most amazing combination of smells hit me with so much force that my wolf whimpered. There, standing a few feet away, were the Salvatore Brothers amidst other security men. I realized now that the scents of forest, citrus, and Oud belonged to each of them. In the span of seconds, I went from lust to awe to utter fear. They looked just like the men in my nightmares. The men at first looked furious when they saw me, but then their eyes widened like they'd seen a ghost. “Verena?” The blonde one among them asked in disbelief. “That's impossible.” The dark-haired one said while the tattooed one beside him was quiet and pale. Who the hell is Verena? Is that me?! My wolf stirred and paced around frantically, growling one word over and over again. ‘Mates!’ Wait, what?! I didn't have time for this! The first gate was up, and their men had begun to come for me. The dark-haired one who oozed Main Alpha power spoke into his radio. “All units converge to the North-west wall. The suspect is about to escape.” That jolted my brain to reality, and I positioned myself to jump. “DON'T YOU DARE MOVE!” The Main Alpha commanded, and every fibre within me wanted to obey. Jeez! This Alpha is strong, but I am stubborn. Facing him, I smirked and gave him both my middle fingers before jumping out the window.
