Sally and Sandy were trying to figure out how they had managed to get out of the cave without being discovered, but somehow they had.
They flopped into the boat and lay on the bottom panting and gasping for breath. For a while, both were afraid to move. Finally, Sandy popped his head over the side of the boat, turned to Sally, and said, “The submarine is past the reef. It’s heading for open ocean!”
Sally just moaned in response, gazing off in the general direction of the retreating submarine.
“We’ve … we’ve got to get back to my Mom and Dad. They should be back by now. They’ll be looking for us.” Sally was fighting hard to maintain her composure. Now was no time to panic. Only cool heads would be able to save Jimmy.
