Tears filled Caelyn’s eyes as a pressure slowly spread over her chest, its roots digging into her body, making it hard for her to breathe. Her heart pounded inside her chest like that of a hummingbird, buzzing inside her ears to what sounded like a thousand bees and slowly drove her insane. She could pull the hairs out of her scalp in frustration of what he even dared to imply. As the thoughts spun around inside her head with the force of a hurricane, she pulled her hand through her hair in an attempt to calm her down. He wouldn’t do this to her, he couldn't. He cared for her like she was his own daughter, raised her to the woman she was now. Screaming out in exasperation, she slammed the door of her room with a loud bang, so intense it resonated like an earthquake towards the adjacent rooms. The vibration notified the two brothers that something wasn’t all right and Kairos was the first to leave his room to see what was happening. Another loud crash could be heard from inside the queens’ room as Kairos made its way towards it. It would have sounded like someone was remodeling her room, weren't it for the occasional screams of frustration. “What’s going on?” the second prince asked with wide eyes as he stepped out of his room, right when another deafening crash came from inside of her room. “I don’t know,” Kairos answered as he opened the door, revealing the once serene room that was now replaced by a big mess, opening his eyes wide in shock. There were books everywhere, some half torned up and others just thrown everywhere, her desk filled with drawings was now empty as papers covered the once empty ground. Pieces of glass were everywhere as she had thrown some glasses against the wall, spots of water clinging to the the wall as they slowly went down to the ground. Her room looked like a war zone with her standing in the middle as the conquerer. Drakos was the first to react, while his brother still couldn't believe his eyes at the chaos his little flower could cause, and wrapped his arms around her frail body as she was about to throw another book, caging her in while she was kicking and screaming to let her go. The first prince did not know what caused her to act like this, but what he did know was that he couldn’t bear to see her distressed. His heart was clenching in torment, each scream of hers piercing through his heart like a bullet that had a will of his own. “Caelyn, calm down,” he urged as he whispered to her, taking her head in his firm hands that were holding her like she was made of glass and wiped the tears away from her cheek with his thumb. She tried to claw her way out of Drakos death grip a couple more times before she slumped back in his arms, showing them her defeat as she bawled her eyes out, her rage dissipating into misery as she cried rivers of tears, each tear representing her insecurity in this cruel world of hers. When the second prince was sure she wasn't going to pull a trick on them, he loosened his grip on her as his hands glided over to her hips to rest them there and kissed her neck gingerly. “Tell me little flower,” the first prince's deep voice whispered as he looked into her red-rimmed eyes, “what got you this distraught.” “I-I... Rhael. I ju-.” Unable to get out of her words, the young queen started to cry again as her rage started to build up again. her thoughts fueling the fire that was shimmering inside of her, warming her insides with passion as her heart started to freeze over. “It’s okay, Caelyn,” he assured her, noticing the cold look inside of her eyes as she tried to stop her tears from spilling over, “just breathe.” Her breath hitched as she tried to regain control, hiccuping here and there as the tears didn’t stop coming, flowing over her cheeks like little drops filled with pain. The converstation played inside her head again and adain, each word driving her insane as she was terrified she would be forced to end this relationship and to marry some random high noble guy only to please her people. She didn’t want that. She wanted to marry for love, not for obligation. Was that so wrong? Kairos saw in her glistening eyes she wasn’t going to calm down anytime soon as the gears inside her head kept turning and creaking. Stepping back from her, he walked out of his room and waved to his brother to follow him. He knew they couldn’t stay inside her room as it was a constant reminder of her breakdown with the mess she made and walked over to his own. Caelyn whimpered quietly when she felt herself being lifted, like she weighted no more than a bag of feathers, and grabbed onto the brawny shoulders of one of her lovers. “W-where are y-you taking me?” she stuttered as she looked frantically around her. Her recent breakdown made her on edge as she saw everything as a threat. “To Kairos’ room where you can rest,” the second prince answered shortly as he walked out of her room to his brothers one. Once there, he let go of her, his hands still lingering on her shoulder as he squeezed them reassuringly. Caelyn looked around the clean and organized room. There was not a thing out of place. The kingssized bed that stood against the right wall was neatly made, the dark blue covers not even showing one wrinkle, and the books that were on the desk that stood opposite from the bed were arranged going from small to big. She didn’t saw any clothes lingering on the ground, unlike in her room and she could only imagine how systamized his closet would look. This room represented him in the best way possible, showing how calm and collected he was, a complete contrast to his brothers personality. The only thing it missed was some personal stuff, but that was understandable as this was a temporarily room. While glancing around the room, she forgot about the conversation that got her so upset, too absorbed to take in every inch of the room. It held some comparison with her own as she like it to be organized too, but this was a bit over the top as it looked like no one lived in it. She knew they had no stuff here, but even then you could make it your own, by dumping your desk full with books and papers or clothes lying around, maybe some used glasses. “Caelyn,” a tranquil voice spoke right in front of her. “Yeah.” Not paying attention to the voice as she studied a weird device that laid on his desk. Kairos saw she was very distracted, her eyes focusing on the communication device on his desk, and guided her over to the bed. She wasn’t even aware of the movement until she sat down, breaking her out of her trance. “Wh-” Stopping mid-word when she locked with the concerned pale blue eyes that belonged to none other than the first prince who was kneeling in front of her, his hands on her knees in a comforting way and not in the passionate way that she liked so much. “Can you tell us why you decided to turn your room into a war zone?” He tried to keep the conversation light by cracking a smile at her that didn’t quite reach his eyes. At his question the queen looked away as she could feel the pressure on her chest again, unshed tears shining in her eyes. “It’s something, Rhael said to me,” her velvety voice nothing but a hoarse whisper. A sob escaped her mouth as her heart clenched in misery, just like earlier. “Okay,” he whispered as he tucked a strand of her rich dark hair behind her ear, trying to figure out what she was thinking by looking into her eyes. The very same eyes he fell in love with as they brimmed with mirth every time she looked at him, but now glistened with tears from hopelessness, something he couldn't stand to see. “Drakos can you stay with her?” Not caring what his brother would say, he walked out of the room in search for Rhael. The urge of protecting what was his was strong, but not strong enough to let it get out of control, which was a good thing for now as he didn't want to hurt his little flowers father figure. Something his temperamental brother surely would have done, not even thinking for a second about the consequences it would hold. Whatever Rhael said that got his little flower so upset, he knew that there must be a good reason. He would never purposely hurt the young queen as he only thought of her wellbeing. “Rhael.” The first prince walked over to him and flashed him a polite smile to show he had no bad blood. “Prince Kairos,” he grumbled in response as he crossed his arms over his chest, standing up straight in an attempt to intimidate the alien prince who was almost a foot taller than him. His sudden change of behaviour made Kairos furrow his brows as he did not understand where it came from. “Did we do something wrong, because Caelyn seemed to have a mental breakdown earlier after her talk with you.” The glare of Rhael softened at his words, face palming himself inwardly as he thought about how stupid he was. She obviously cared for them deeply and had he known that she was interested in them he would have never suggested her to marry someone. “We had a minor argument earlier, and I told her she should get married, but that was before I knew that both of you were courting her.” Kairos’ shoulders relaxed slightly at his words. “You do not have any problems with us courting her,” his voice showing some of his surprise as his eyebrows shot up. He knew Rhael always had the best in mind for her, but even then he still had to think of her reputation and her being courted by two princes might not sit well with the Laomians. “I do not have any problems,” he spoke as rubbed his forehead, “And I most certainly didn’t mean for her to get this upset.” “Then I will tell her this.” The first prince turned around and walked away, but not before adding, “Oh, and I think she needs a new room. Her old one is a bit of a mess.” Tears filled Caelyn’s eyes as a pressure slowly spread over her chest, its roots digging into her body, making it hard for her to breathe. Her old one is a bit of a mess.” Rhael opened his eyes in shock at his words. What in the bloody hell did that child do, he thought. Waving one of the guards over, he ordered them to clean out her room and strolled towards Slaton’s room. ... “Rhael is completely fine with us courting you,” Kairos announced as he walked over to Caelyn who sat on his brothers lap, her head in the crook of his neck as she sniffled every now and then. “He only suggested it because he didn’t know we were courting you.” Caelyn sat up straight as she wiped her tears away, feeling at least a little relieved now that she knew Rhael didn’t have any trouble with their relationship. “Even then, the high nobles will surely protest.” "And that will be a problem for another day," Kairos spoke as he pulled Caelyn to stand up. "We are not going anywhere." "How can you be so sure!" Ignoring the words he just told her as she threw her hands in the air. "You don't know the high nobles like I do. They have some real power and could easily overthrow me." "Caelyn," spoken with such tenderness it made her still as it was the first word that came out of Drakos' mouth. He cupped her cheek and made her look into his captivating eyes, pale green eyes that could make her forget the world around her. "Don't worry too much." She bit her lower lip at his words, drawing his attention towards it as his eyes flickered hungrily towards it. "I can't," she whispered as she pulled back from him, hugging her own body, "I need some time alone." The second prince's face fell as she distanced herself from them, not even looking them in the eyes. Agony was the first feeling to make itself present as he didn't understand why she would push them away. Was she going to decide that it was better to break things off sooner than later? "Drakos." Ignoring his brothers calling, he kept looking at her, trying to figure out what was going on in that pretty little head of her. A hand squeezed his shoulder, "let's go." With a huff he did as his brother said, having known from experience he would drag him out by the hair if he didn't go and left his little angel alone to let her think. "Do you honestly think it is a good idea to leave her alone?" Referring to her mental breakdown not even an hour ago."Relax," Kairos breathed out as he walked over to his brother's room, "we're only a door away." Usual Drakos was the carefree one, but now it seemed like the roles have been reversed. He was uptight, like an elastic that could snap at any moment and wanted nothing more than to fully mate with her. Kairos, on the other hand, was calm and had the patience of a saint as he gave her all the time she needed. Walking inside Drakos' room, he had to do his best not to shake his head. Clothes were lying everywhere, dispersed across the room like small puddles of water. His bed was, unlike his brothers, not made and he could see book scattered across his desk. "You know," -raising his arms in a wide gesture as he turned to his brother to emphasise his words, "the least you could do is keep your room clean." "Shut up," Drakos grumbled as he grabbed some clothes off the floor to throw them in a laundry basket, wanting nothing more than wipe off that smug look of his brother's face. And just when the second prince was about to do that, the vibration of his communication device caught their attention. "Did you expect a call?" asked Kairos as he made a move to answer it. "No." Kairos picked up, and a screen came out of it, showing Mavis who stood straight with her hands behind her back, a serious look inside her eyes as her her lips were tight. "Mavis," Kairos surprised voice rang through the room, "why did you call us." "I know we only agreed to do scheduled calls, but this was too important to wait.""What is is?" Drakos' voice grumbled as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Recent findings from our satellite showed the beast that destroyed our planet, who is now swimming through this galaxy," her voice not once wavering even if the scars were still fresh on their mind. Drakos sucked in a breath, his body stiffening as he knew what kind of danger they were in."Do you know where it is now?" the first prince asked in a calm voice. He could only hope it was far enough and would go to another galaxy. "It's light-years away from us, but is moving quickly this way," this time her voice wavered a bit and both the brothers knew why. If it was moving this way, it could mean it had eyes on this planet. "Keep us updated and call immediately when it's too close." This way they will have enough time to safe as much people as they could. "Do you think it will come here?" The second prince's voice was cold and distant, too cold for Kairos' liking and knew that right now his temporal brother who was finally softening up again was gone as his nightmares hauled him back. "Let's hope it does not. This planet has too many people and we can't safe them all." This was the truth, and it scared the two brothers as they didn't know how their little one would react to it. She would be heartbroken, that's what they did know. A door opening cut off their conversation, revealing the young queen who had a determined expression on her face. Her arms crossed over her chest as she stood straight. “Mark me.”
