Lissana Mons
Abalone now has more things to worry about, well not Abalone exactly. Just me and everyone else living here I guess. Everyone’s trying to steer clear from one another, or are they starting to steer clear from me? Bah.t’s too early to assume that. I have one goal today and that is to find Shaen and hopefully talk to Boen.
The Spring Baths is just a few sprints away but I need to take a quick stop at the shack just in case. Jeez, I feel so uptight about everything. Not only did I befriend a human outsider, but that human outsider came with a s**t load of baggage: she has a moon ring, her cabin’s an invisible hell hole and now the sleeping faes might wake up and erase everyone. Not to mention Prince knows I’m the one who found the cabin so he’s out to kill me off too, everyone’s going to find out I’m the one who pissed him off and start going for my pack as revenge. What a pickle. Luna, when you set me on this journey, would you have expected this to happen? Or is this exactly what you were hoping for? Is this my punishment for being born? Huh?!
Ah! Prince is here! I knew he’d stalk my shack after he’d calmed down. Why do I feel like he’s still pissed though?...It’s not what I think is happening right? They couldn’t have approached him in that state...can they? Agh! In any case, my shack is still in one piece. I can’t get too close to him or I might get ripped into pieces. There’s no chance of looking for Skia’s book now, though I doubt that it would’ve helped in my situation. It’s seriously outdated and embarrassing. Most of it is just random stories anyway.
I should head this way. Not my usual route but since Prince is over there I’ll have to take the longer way. I might have to pass Zeke’s territory though. Well his and my pack are on friendly terms with one another so I don’t think I’ll have to bite anyone’s tails off. Still, he’s from another pack and Weres our age don’t get to be so lax about our instincts. As long as Zeke still thinks of me as a buddy, I’ll be fine.
I can smell a few of them near their den. Man, if we weren’t so hostile towards each other, I’d like to see their camping grounds. I bet it’s full of stuff from the city, like broken monitors and pick-up trucks and junk. I heard some of them still try to live in the city as much as the forest. Talk about weird. I’ve never been to the city so I’ll never understand.
Ah---!!! Isn’t that! Zeke and Krolo? Shoot what are they doing here? I better hide!
“So what do you propose we do then? I don’t want to act without verifying it first.”
“How long do you intend to make a fool of yourself, Zeke? I didn’t call you out here just so you can tell me you’re indeterminate.”
“Your plan relies too much on sacrifices. Don’t think I’ve moved on from what you did to my pack. You cheating scoundrel!”
Ooff. It seems like a them thing. I don’t need to lurk for any of this. I don’t have a chance with both of them attacking me at once. Zeke might hold back but I know Krolo’s not going to stop at just injuring me, I bet he’s still bitter about the time I bit off a bit of his tail. But I’ll leave the two brothers alone for now.
I gotta be careful. Those two are a tad older than me so they’re definitely better at using their sense of smells than I do. They’re not as good as I bite though and that’s a fact! Hmm, so is that why Krolo never got too close to Boen? I know they had an encounter but Krolo never smelled of the dead and of Boen so wasn’t really that into her, probably. He only talked to her to piss me off, definitely!
“Oi, little miss, long time no see, eh?”
Just. My.Fucking. Luck. Dammit! What do I do?
“Uh, hey...I just need to go to the spring baths real quick. I think you might have noticed my Prince problem?”
“So it is true. My doubts are still intact but I’m starting to warm up to your plan, Krolo.”
s**t! s**t! s**t! Shit
“What did I tell you? Maybe it’s time you start doubting me less.”
“Don’t push your luck, pup. So...Lissana...”
Well it looks like I’m going to have to fight the both of them after all. I’ve never fought two alphas at once before. Man, I’m getting excited, aha, I definitely have a death wish, don’t I? Just prepare for the strike...
“Whoa! There lady not yet! I’m not like him, like that. I want to talk first, before we rip each other’s flesh off. You found it haven’t you? The place where they hid the stolen parts...”
Huh? So they were talking about me the whole time? What.
“What are you talking about?”
“Don’t play coy Bone and Fang! We can smell you from miles away. We didn’t think you’d be stupid enough to follow the outsider right into a trap!”
“Trap? What do you mean a trap? Boen doesn’t even know what she’s living in. If I could just talk to her she’ll listen to me.”
“‘That girl won’t listen to you. I told her you killed your brother, which we all know is the stone-hard truth. Who would want to trust someone like you? Killing your brother so you can become the Alpha?”
He...told Boen about Nike. Boen must’ve been so scared of me. She’s so brave, she barely knows me and she still managed to trust me. Am I...am I having a crush on her? No,no,no! THIS ISN’T THE RIGHT TIME FOR THAT YOU f*****g i***t!!
“Would you just shut up already!!!! You withered old wolf man! I’ve been having a hard time with Boen and it’s all because of you. Haa~ now I’m getting a little pissed. Both of you better, tell me what the f**k you want with me, or Appellations are gonna show and I’ll bite off both your heads at the same time.”
“That’s what I intended. We can tear each other apart after you hear what we’re going to say. I can’t say I don’t miss the old times. Doesn’t this feel awfully nostalgic?”
“I don’t have time for old times. Just get on with it.”
“Huh, that’s saddening. To get straight to the point, we’ve decided that we know you found the place and we want you to take us up there.”
“The cabin? Why?”
“Why do you think, you imbecile? That place is valuable, if we---”
“If you what? Sorry but, no can do. I’m not even sure if I can find the place without Boen. And she’s an entirely different story too. If you want to end up smelling like me and piss off Prince then be my guest, but I’ll not be the one to lead you there. Not a chance.”
“Then I guess that’s that. Well you had your fun as an Alpha, now I guess you’ll need to say goodbye to that appellation.”
“Please. I’m more than capable of taking you both down, one-by-one.”
The three of us know I have no chance against the both of them. I need to find a disadvantage or not only will my pack be in trouble, they might come for Boen too and Prince wouldn’t be able to move on. I have to---
“That’s more than enough. The three of you can stop this instant.” Ah? Luna’s divine intervention?---!
“Shaen!!! Wha---from the trees! You? The whole time?!”
“It’s funny seeing the three of you in full form at a time like this. I’m surprised you have the audacity to leave your packs behind while the faes are awakening. I’ve heard more than enough to assess your schemes and it won’t work.”
Hm. So she’s figured things out now huh? I can’t really piece things together from what they were blabbering about. Shaen’s amazing. Wait so that must mean….
“Shaen! Can you hel---”
“---I’m afraid I can’t help you that much, Sana. These wolves are trying to get a hold of some alliances and looking for the outsider girl won’t make that happen. You understand what I’m saying, right? The both of you?”
“If the Divine says it herself then there’s nothing we can do. I’ll head back to my pack now, Krolo, I’d advise you’ll do the same.”
“...I’ll retaliate for now. It’s best if you make wiser decisions the next time we meet, Lissana.”
“Sure. Not on your terms though.”
Thank Luna. The whiplash from suppressing our instincts will definitely affect how we’ll fight in the tournaments. But that’s a whole problem for another day. Right now, another problem plans to gatekeep.
“S-so when you said you can’t help much...what did you mean by that?”
“Sigh. I never would have expected the turn of events. I’d assumed the stolen parts were destroyed or taken away. To think that they’d still be here…
Lissana, this is something beyond my knowledge. Things that happened to the faes don’t happen very often or, speaking from experience, it should not have happened at all... ”
“O-oh, so you mean...I’ll have to stay like this until we figure out how to extract the dead faes?”
“That’s the best case scenario, the worst case would be the destruction of all Weres.”
