After the Party

BOEN OPEOR In order to meet Lissana properly, and not disappoint Imus, I have to get better physically and mentally. That night at the bath has me realizing that I'm more important to the return of the Alpha than I thought. What was the reason why they saved me? I can't recall yet, but I know the answer is buried in my memories somewhere. It's probably too early to think about this, the sun isn't even up yet, and the room is still a comfortable cool under my cream soft blankets. I feel the legs with my palms, one is hot; emitting a pleasant heat, and one is a extremely cool, as if like a chrome icicle. It might be surprising, but I prefer the chrome one than the flesh one, I feel that it's stronger, only harder to control. It's been two days since the party and nothing significant has happened since, like the me that's painted on the pack's grand painting has finally dried out. I'm nothing new anymore, and I don't require much assistance except for when I go on my walking exercises with Mei. Other than that, I'm free to roam around the barrier, they said it's easier for my memories to come back when I'm surrounded by the inner nature; they said that the trees talk through the wind, and the wind will try to relay the message to me. There's still so many of their beliefs, customs, and lore that I still have a hard time believing. Just yesterday, I was instructed to walk from The Train to the back end of the barrier all by myself, falling is part of progress, so they left me be, it almost felt like they all decided to finally give me my privacy since the moment I arrived. There was no reason for me to leave or runaway, they know I'm not that sort of person anyway. They'd catch me if I hypothetically did try and escape. The whole area behind The Train looked oddly like the backyard of a witch's house, there's a lot more bushes and plants scattered everywhere, ignoring order arrangement. I was informed to just follow the thin trail, look around for a bit, and try and remember something, the reason must have been important for me to leave the cabin at night. I followed the thin line like it was my tightrope, thinking harder and harder with each step. I thought so hard that I finally had my first fall since I got my new, beautifully-crafted, metallic leg. I thought of Mei after the fall, and how he zealously offers his services for the Weres who need it. I felt a strong admiration while I looked up to the gray sky. The sky was gray that day, but it didn't rain. The world was just a bit gloomy, a little indication that even the clouds get tired from time to time. I stayed there almost content of how far I reached but there was still a long way to go, and I was determined to reach the end, I had nothing else to do. I encountered a few gates after I managed to pull myself up from the soft, comfortable ground, sometimes it's one of the hardest things to do in life. Gravity feels as if it has full control of the weight of the body, like there's a magnet on the dirt below, along with all the worms and ants. Thankfully, nothing bit me while I was experiencing my first plummet to the ground since I got my leg. The gates, were made of thin metal, but the overgrown weeds, grass, and bushes, seems that someone tried to make a garden but forgot about it. I wonder who it might be, Mei seems like the gardening type, but maybe it's Miller trying to cook with homegrown food. Hm, basing from what I know about them so far, I can't pinpoint a single person. I continued on, passing these gates, but also considered that the gates might be remnants of fences, but nothing seems to be living among the tall grass, I'm pretty sure a few rabbits managed to enter the area but other than them, the whole immense space called a "backyard" is empty. The wind passed the weeds with a slight slaps and I ventured on. The dread inside me was slowly rising as I finally feel myself nearing the border, the other side felt as if it did not allow day to take over the night. Before the border was a lake, well, it was only my height wide and just about the width of a mailbox. It would be better to consider it a puddle, only the water was clear and creepily fragrant, like a trap. I didn't get too close to it, there was something about it that seemed like it was deeper than it actually was, I didn't want to risk it and causing trouble for everyone again. And, so I was at the edge of the border, I made sure that I was still inside the beautiful magic fabric protector. There were only tall, dark, dense trees beyond, even the gaps felt like another lighter or darker colored tree. I stared it the illusion immensely and that's when it dawned on me: at the party, Imus just called me the Alpha's lover and I fell to the ground once again but this time, from the delayed embarrassment. The rustling trees made me feel that I was being laughed at, he must have been a bit drunk. That's what I thought to myself and hurriedly went back to The Train so I could scream and rationalize about it on my bed. But I took one last look at the dark trees beyond the border and thought that I might have made eye contact with a glowy-eyed creature. I was sure that I stared at it long enough to register that it's true but, now, that it's the next morning, but too early to be awake yet but I've already started thinking too much to go back to sleep made me spark a memory. I'd forgotten about him, but I remember being stared at from a distance before, the Were with the embarrassing appellation, 'Play Boy', also known as Krolo. He was there when I was attacked, maybe the pack already knows about this, but I'd like to make sure. This is a breakthrough for me! The memories are finally starting to resurface! I don't know if it was the walk that helped, or the prying eyes that might actually have been my imagination after all but, I can try to remember more. If I can remember even just a little fragment about the alpha, Lissana, we might be able to get her back sooner. And I'll finally be able to confirm why I'd like to see her as soon as possible.
