I slumped on the bed, still holding my lips and confused about Andrew's unexpected deed. Probably, it was a friendly kiss. Besides, he was slightly drunk and could have done it out of nothing. I should not be bothered by that simple act.
I stopped thinking further and just took a lukewarm bath, changed into my pajamas, and slept soundly after one emotional roller coaster kind of day.
I woke up half an hour before ten o'clock and headed to the hotel's restaurant after doing my usual morning routine.
Indeed, there were a dozen or more dishes on a smorgasbord of mouthwatering flavors. I decided to have a full brunch and chew each food with relish and savored every last morsel of food until I reached satiety.
I thanked a few staff for the sumptuous meal and headed straight back to my room.
I grabbed my phone to see a couple of messages from Andrew telling me to get ready by one o'clock and informed me to specifically prepare for water activities that we would do in the afternoon.
Exactly at one o'clock, Andrew was already in the lobby.
I was wearing my black bodysuit rashguard, quite conservative-looking but could still show off my curves and figure, a high-waisted white shorts that revealed my slender thighs and legs, flip flops, shades, and beach tote bag to complete the look. I also brought my wrap-up scarf and sunscreen lotion.
On the other hand, Andrew was also a standout even in his tropical-print boardshorts, white shirt, and aviator sunglasses. It's decided he would still look good in whatever clothes he would put on. There was certainly something about this man that would make every woman look at him over and over again- charisma and s*x appeal. Deadly combination. My inner thoughts speaking.
I approached him and exchanged our hellos as he kissed me on the cheek.
Roughly an hour later, we were on a boat preparing for parasailing. Andrew was explaining that it was not at all scary and it's really fun up high in the sky. He had tried it before so he was used to the feeling already. However, it was my first time and I was scared as hell. The boat assistant was done with the preparations too so we were good to go. I was trembling so he held and squeezed my hand as assurance.
Up, up and away. In no time, we had been whisked away into the sky and were already exploring the vastness of the sea beneath us. Parasailing basically worked like flying a kite wherein the parachute or canopy carrying the passengers was being connected by a harness and tow rope to a moving boat which towed them behind. I let out a deep sigh of relief as soon as I felt being in a stable position.
"So, this must be how birds feel up in the sky?" I asked him.
"You could say so," he flashed a gentle smile at me.
"How long should we be doing this?" I inquired.
"Fifteen to twenty minutes. Why? Bored? Scared?", he asked consecutively
"Not really. I was feeling fine. How about you? You looked not really excited at all. Was it because you did this many times so there was nothing else to get excited about?" I retorted
"Just the second time, the first was with my ex-fiancee"
"Ex-fiancee? Meaning she's your wife now?"
"Nope. The engagement was broken off, he answered
"Sorry about that."
"Nothing to be sorry about. It happened a long time ago and I moved on from that experience. I could say I was doing just fine too." He grinned.
"You once told me your eyes never lied, so could it then be your lips now that was not telling the truth?"I retorted at him and I noticed he curled up his lip.
He remained silent.
"Ok, if you wouldn't want to talk about it, I would not ask any further. Neither of us should be bringing up each other's bad memories, remember?"
He nodded in agreement.
However, in my heart, a felt a slight pain that I couldn't figure out.
"Andrew?"
"Yes?" He turned his face to me, one of his brows slightly raised. He really looked upset.
"After this, what would we be doing next?" I asked shyly.
"Hmm, jet-skiing!" He exclaimed and then turned to me with a questioning look, "Why? Scared again?"
"Slight. Could I just be your back ride? I don't think I can drive one myself, please"
"No problem. I'm a pro" He grinned.
I smiled back.
I couldn't be any happier seeing him back to being the Andrew I used to know yesterday. His words and actions seemed to have a tremendous effect on me already. Was my subconscious mind telling me something my conscious mind would not allow. I shook my head.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"Yes, of course"
"Get ready, we are going down".
Only then I realized he was still holding my hand and squeezing it firmly as we descend to the boat deck smoothly.
"How was the experience ma'am, sir?" The boat assistant asked.
"Great!" Andrew answered back.
I smiled at the boat assistant. "It was fun."
The next thing I knew, we were approaching a floating dock for our next activity. Andrew arranged one jetski for us. Since he knew already how to drive it, he no longer asked for a demonstration from the staff.
He made his way to the watercraft. Next, he and the staff helped me board behind him. He gave me some instructions first and made sure I was all set. He specifically asked me to wrap my arms around his waist, but neither too tight nor loose as it may pose some difficulty in his driving.
"Are you settled now?" He asked.
"I want you to enjoy this experience so you just relax, okay. Take pleasure hugging my back, I wouldn't mind." He said teasingly.
"I'm actually starting to love you(r) back", almost a whisper.
"Sorry, I didn't hear you"
"I said, you have a nice and sexy back, I like it."
"Well, thank you. I'm flattered"
" So, get ready now, Eli."
Andrew turned the ignition switch and slowly push the throttle. Cruising around at a slower speed first, then increasing it from time to time. Oftentimes, he'd accelerate making me hug him tighter out of panic or fear that I might fall on the water. Then, he'd tease me by slowly going back to normal speed then he would accelerate again. Then, he would laugh at my reaction.
"Hey, could you please stop being vicious and drive properly? You're giving me a heart attack." I snorted at him.
He laughed again. Then he touched my arms with his left hand and said he's sorry. The remaining time, he was driving at normal speed while being careful with the turns until we headed back to the floating dock.
A few minutes after, we were already at the shore where he invited me over for coffee.
He said he planned the whole afternoon for us to try the different water activities. We already ticked off parasailing and jetskiing from the list, so we could choose from the banana boat, helmet diving, cliff diving, stand up paddle, freediving, and kiteboarding
After careful thought, I chose helmet diving, kiteboarding, and cliff diving.
"Are you sure about that? They're kinda extreme and I wouldn't be able to hold your hands while you do those activities. How did you become brave all of a sudden?" He was teasing me.
"Haha, because of you."
He paused.
"Because you almost gave me a heart attack, how could I not be brave then?" I said defensively.
"But seriously, I am willing to try those."
I winked at him.
"We could only do helmet diving today since there's still enough time. About the other two, we'll think about those later. By the way, we're going island hopping tomorrow. Tonight, I'm taking you out for dinner."
"Wow, looks like you already planned for everything, how else can I refuse? But, I'm fine with the arrangement. Thank you". I smiled at him.
We finished up our coffee. A few minutes later, we're on another floating platform and prepared for the helmet diving activity.
