Alessandra - Present

“s**t! f**k!” Asha cursed for the 80th time in the last four minutes. Meanwhile, the entire room was in disarray. All for a cocktail dress she was supposed to wear for her date tonight. Her sixth date in the last two months. Asha was pretty much a social butterfly. She was always down for late night parties, clubbing or whatever “zero reward” activity there is. She loved the adventure. She was the complete opposite of me. She had a butt load of friends (most of them acquaintances though) whereas she was my only friend. She attracted guys from all angles. But never the responsible ones though. It’s not like guys don’t hit on me or anything. Just that I never really gave any of them a chance “Loosen up a bit, babe”, Asha would always say. I wonder how she did it though. With all her extracurriculars, she still manages to ace all her subjects. “Alé, did you see my cocktail dress? The one I bought the other day? I don’t know where the hell I put it.” “Not a chance. I didn’t see it. You can borrow any of my dresses. They fit you more. It’s not like I have any use for them.” I replied. In truth, I don’t actually use them. I guess I bought them for posterity. “Oh, babe! What would I do without you? You’re like my guardian angel. Here, have a kiss.” She blew a kiss from where she stood. “Guardian angel indeed. I couldn’t event guard myself. I’m no angel, much less a guardian one.” She looked with me with her huge, green eyes. “Will you ever stop being so awfully hard on yourself? It wasn’t your fault your mother married a perv. What those men did to you? They’ll pay for it. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but someday they will. Whoever is up there, he won’t let them go unpunished. Now, give me that cute smile.” She held my chin and tilted my head up. I love my friend so much. Friend? More like sister. After all I went through, I didn’t think anyone would want to accept me as an acquaintance, much less a friend. “Asha, should I tell you something?” “Of course, silly. You know you can tell me anything.” “You are my guardian angel. I honestly don’t know where I’d be or what I’d have done if you hadn’t rescued me that day. Thank you.” I said genuinely. “Awwn. Come here, babe.” She pulled my closer and hugged me tightly. “Come on, go get ready. You’ll be late. Who knows? Maybe this one will actually yield positive results.” “The last time you said that, the results were the worst in my entire life.”
