The 4th Scene

Irvin shrugged in response. "I don't know. Maybe the name is quite unique." "Really?" Stephen narrowed his eyes, unconvinced. Irvin let out a sigh of defeat. "Okay, fine," he admitted. "She's my ex-girlfriend." Stephen was taken aback and gasped, dramatically placing his hand over his mouth. Irvin continued, "But hear me out. At first, I didn't know it was her. I saw the name, and it's quite similar to our company's name. 'Larva,'... 'Lar.' Turns out it's Sky, I mean Skyler, my ex." Stephen's expression shifted to one of surprise and realization. "Lar is another name for Skyler!" he exclaimed. Irvin raised an eyebrow. "Really?" "Don't play dumb; I know you knew that," Stephen said teasingly. Irvin shook his head, denying Stephen's accusation. "I don't." Stephen chuckled. "Sure you don't," he said sarcastically. "But anyway, are you sure you want to take on this project? I mean, it could get messy. Girls are a pain in the butt." Irvin leaned back in his chair, shaking his head at Stephen's words. “Say less; I won’t turn gay like you,” he said, spotting the point. “Oh, come on,” chuckled Stephen. “I need a buddy to go to gay bars.” “Shut up and leave me,” warned Irvin. Stephen laughed. "Chill! I was just joking.” He went to the door but stopped to say, “Alright, I'll inform the production team that you're on board.” Irvin gave him a nod in agreement. As Stephen left the room, Irvin couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. Despite being busy, he couldn't help but think about Skyler, whom he hadn't seen in five years. His heart was racing at the prospect of meeting her again, but his mind was preoccupied with questions about her well-being. Back at the cafe, he couldn't help but notice that she had lost weight since when they last saw each other. This made him wonder if she was eating and sleeping well. Her pale complexion and the dark circles under her eyes only added to his concerns. He remembered that her editor had gone out for a while and returned with something, which Skyler had then hidden in her pocket. This piqued Irvin's curiosity even further, and he couldn't help but wonder what she was hiding. As the sun rose over the horizon, the air on the filming set buzzed with anticipation. The cameras were set up, the actors were in place, and everyone was ready to capture the 4th scene of the script. Stephen, the director's assistant, was herding the actors and managing the activity on set to ensure everything ran smoothly. Meanwhile, Irvin was stationed behind the screens, checking every camera angle to ensure that the shots looked just right. As soon as the stage was set, Stephen shouted, "Action!" and the cameras started rolling. The scene depicted the female lead as a bubbly, lively girl, while the male lead was portrayed as an introvert. The plot revolves around her breaking into his comfort zone and forcing him to open up while he remains annoyed. The actors were completely absorbed in their roles, and things were going smoothly. However, during one of the takes, the male lead pushed the female lead to the ground, which was not part of the script. "Cut!" Irvin yelled, grabbing his megaphone and addressing the crew. "Let's do that again! Let's stick to the script and not push each other." “Sorry!” apologized the male lead. “That was good, though,” the female lead complimented him. Stephen walked to them and smiled. “Y’all did great. Do it exactly the same, minus the push.” The male lead nodded. And they rolled it again. “Cut! Male lead, not too aggressive! Again!” said Irvin “Scene 4, take 3.” “Cut! Again!” “Scene 4, take 6.” “Cut! Do it again!” “Scene 4, take 8.” “Cut! No good! Again!” Scene 4, take 15.” "Cut!" Irvin exclaimed, frustration evident in his voice as he rubbed his temple. "Let's take a break, everyone!" Stephen looked over at Irvin, sensing that something had been troubling him since the start of the scene. The entire crew felt the effects, with even the actors looking exhausted. As he walked up to Irvin, Stephen couldn't help but put his hands on his hips. "What's going on? What are you looking for in this scene?" Irvin shook his head, clearly at a loss. "I don't know. There's a certain emotion that's just not coming through." Stephen gestured towards the male lead. "But my actor has been killing it! He's portrayed every angry emotion you could ask for!" Irvin looked at Stephen and said, "I know he has, but it's not it." Stephen stared at Irvin in disbelief and scratched his head. Just then, Irvin had an idea. "Get hold of Sky and have her come here," he said. "Who?" asked Stephen. "Skyler," Irvin corrected, "Skyler Katz, the author. Call her here."
