Irvin Yun

After the meeting, Skyler and Ethan were making their way back. Skyler suddenly felt like she was going to faint. She needed to get outside to breathe and fast. Ethan followed her out the nearest door and saw that she was struggling. Concerned, he asked her if she was sick. "I need my inhaler," Skyler managed to say between breaths. Ethan rummaged through her purse, but the inhaler was nowhere to be found. "Where is it?" he asked worriedly. "In the car," Skyler replied, her face turning pale. Without hesitation, Ethan helped her sit down on a nearby bench. "Stay here," he said. "I'll go get it." Then he dashed off. A group of individuals were inspecting the building's structure from inside. Clearly, some of them were architects, as they were positioned at the front and provided advice on the construction. Irvin Yun, the person in the group's center conversing with the architect, stood out from the rest with his distinctive appearance. He was not just conventionally handsome but also possessed unique physical features that made him easily noticeable. "How's the yard coming so far?" asked Irvin, gesturing his head to the door leading to the yard. "It's going well. Our builders have already set some yellow warning signs to prevent anyone from stepping outside since the cement is still wet." However, the tranquility was short-lived, as the yard door suddenly swung open, and Ethan barged in, knocking into the crowd as he tried to run past them. A man named Stephen, standing beside Irvin, stopped Ethan from leaving, stating, "Hey man, you are not allowed out there. It is off-limits." "I don't care right now! Someone's life is more important!" Ethan exclaimed, yanking his arm free and running towards the elevator. The man turned to Irvin and declared, "Someone must have been injured out in the yard." Without further ado, Irvin stepped out to the yard. Out in the yard, Skyler was venting angrily to herself. “You really think you’re so important, huh?! So important that you couldn’t even make time to see me! It’s ME! The person who’s going to make you famous! The person who used to be your so-called ‘love!’ Fine! To hell at it! I’m not working with you!” Skyler breathed in heavily and finally snapped out of it, realized she was alone. She looked around for Ethan. “Where did Ethan go?” Then she remembered. “Oh…I sent him to the car. Stupid Irvin. This is all your fault. Because of you, I couldn’t sleep at all last night.” She stood up from sitting and smelled the air. “I feel much better now since I’m out here. Well, time to go.” As she turned, she came face to face with… Irvin Yun, her ex. Skyler stood frozen, unable to believe her eyes. Irvin stood before her, his piercing gaze filled with surprise and confusion. It had been five years since they last saw each other, and now here they are, standing just ten feet away from each other. "Sky?" Irvin managed to say, his voice trembling slightly. Skyler’s heart was pounding in her chest. When they used to date, Irvin always called her Sky, never Skyler. “What?” Skyler managed to say. “What are you doing here?” asked Irvin. Skyler folded her arms. “No, what are YOU doing here?! I thought you were too busy to meet me.” Irvin looked confused. “Meet you? Why?” “Well, you bailed to meet the author of ‘Once a Story’ today. Clear enough?” explained Skyler. Realization finally met his eyes as he still couldn’t comprehend it. “You’re Lar. D-Katz?” he asked in shock. Skyler raised an eyebrow at him, giving him a 'you think?'... look. He smiled, showing his perfect white teeth. Wait. Why was he smiling? He should be mad since now he knew Skyler was no other than the author who was going to work with him. Irvin slowly moved toward her. “Come, take my hand.” Skyler gawked, unbelievable. “Take your hand?! NO! Who do you see me as?” Irvin cleared his throat. “No, I mean, you might want to get out from there unless you want to get stuck.” “Huh?” Skyler looked down to see her shoes almost buried under wet cement. “What the?! Ewww.” Irvin couldn’t help but laugh. “Don’t move, I’ll come and get you.” Skyler shot him a glare. “It’s not funny!” Just then, Stephen came running to them. “Irvin, Is everything alright?” Irvin turned back to Stephen. “Yes, I got this. Tell the architect to fix whatever it needs to fix here.” Stephen nodded and turned back inside. After Skyler got out of the cement, Irvin had to piggyback her since her shoes were soaked. He took her to the café near the lobby. As Irvin seated Skyler on the chair, their eyes locked in a tense stare. The air became thick with awkward silence, and they both sat at a corner table, unsure of what to say. Skyler's mind was racing, trying to process the fact that Irvin was sitting right in front of her after all these years. A mix of emotions swirled inside her - anger and a hint of nostalgia. Breaking the silence, Irvin said, "I can't believe it's really you, Sky! I never thought I'd see you again, especially like this." Skyler crossed her arms, trying to maintain her composure. "Well, life is full of surprises, isn't it? Just so you know, if you want to withdraw the offer, it will cost you a fee." "Why would I want to withdraw?" Irvin asked, looking puzzled. "Because I know you wouldn't want to work with the person you hate, aka your ex. Am I right?" Skyler replied, her voice laced with sarcasm. Irvin's expression softened, and her words made him speechless for a second. Then he finally said, "You thought I hated you?" Skyler looked at him, searching his eyes for any hint of deceit. "Well, back then, I was the only one who loved you," she replied, her voice tinged with skepticism. Irvin let out a sigh and reached across the table, gently taking Skyler's hand in his. "Sky, I never hated you. It just never worked out."
