Boredom and Terror

279 Words
Tilliander was bored out of his mind. ever since his father demanded he find a mate, he'd been forced to attend a party in each of their allied packs to try to locate his fated mate. This was the last one, and he'd seen enough in the past 10 minutes to know his mate was not in this stuffy ballroom. He sighed, relegated to returning to his father empty-handed. Then he caught a scent. "Alpha? Is everything alright?" Asked his beta, Wilson. Tilliander growled deep in his throat, and Wilson backed away as Tilliander forced his way through a door, past the kitchens, and down a dirty hallway. Up a narrow staircase, down a hall so narrow he had to turn slightly to fit, and into a storage closet. He smelled her before he could see a thing. Her scent was so powerful he almost fell over in shock. She smelled like flowers, dew, mahogany desks, fresh bread, his mother's best meals, and home. In short, she smelled like heaven. then he smelled the other scent. Blood. He growled, and he heard a frightened whimper and saw movement in a corner. In a corner was curled a young woman, hair matted and filled with dirt, body emaciated, covered in rags, and battered terribly, very recently. But her eyes were what caught his attention. Deep pools of a stunning shade of violet, and they were terrified. Her entire body was trembling in terror, and his heart ached. His wolf growled at whoever mistreated her, and this just intensified her fear. Then he heard a voice like a timid angel. "If Alpha sent you to kill me, please do so quickly."
