Demon Lord

When she finally regained her senses, Ying Zaozao found herself in a magnificently decorated hall. The room was adorned with deep crimson tapestries, intricately embellished with golden flowers. Rows of peculiar white statues lined the walls, each lavishly encrusted with gemstones of various hues. Several crystal lamps hung from the ceiling, casting a cold, sharp light that made the tall walls loom ominously in the shadows on the plush carpet below. In the hall, a dozen or so werewolves, though currently in human form and dressed in exquisitely tailored attire, exuded an innate oppressive presence that left Ying Zaozao gasping for breath. “Did we catch Hong Ji?” “No, damn it!” “I heard she escaped right under the Chief’s nose. Is that true?!” “It is true. That human woman was just a scapegoat that Hong Ji abandoned to avoid the Chief!” Instantly, all the werewolves turned their gazes towards Ying Zaozao, causing her to shiver uncontrollably. “Hmph, I didn’t expect the Chief to spare her. He must be planning to torture her slowly.” “If she falls into our hands, we’ll make her wish she were dead.” “Hahahaha!” ... As the werewolves chatted incessantly, the heavy drapes at the entrance were suddenly lifted. An imposing figure strode into the hall with powerful strides. His black brocade cloak billowed dramatically with each step, the sharp, cold air sweeping across Ying Zaozao’s face and stinging her skin. “Greetings, Chief!” All the werewolves immediately bowed and knelt on one knee. “What’s all this noise, you little pests?” The Chief’s voice was deep and resonant, unmistakably the same ‘head’ she had encountered earlier. Ying Zaozao quickly turned to follow his movement, noticing that he had changed attire in such a short time. He took a seat in a tiger-skin armchair at the far end of the hall, waved for everyone to rise, and then asked, “Fugang, did you catch him?” “Yes,” responded a tall man beside him, “Bring him in.” Moments later, a bloodied werewolf was dragged into the hall. The werewolf still retained its beastly form, its clothes torn to shreds, leaving only a pair of tattered shorts. Its gray fur was stained with blood, and deep, varying wounds covered its body, clearly subjected to severe torture. It lay on the ground, barely conscious. The Chief examined him and furrowed his brows, saying in a stern tone, “Why are his injuries so severe? Who did this?” At these words, the air around them seemed to freeze. Everyone exchanged nervous glances, unwilling to speak. Fugang, sensing the tension, immediately knelt and said, “Chief, when we captured him, he resisted fiercely, and the brothers lost control and went too far.” “Useless! What good are you if you’ve left him in this state? How am I supposed to use him now?” The Chief’s hand struck the armrest of the chair with a loud “crack,” causing it to splinter. Everyone recoiled in fright, and Ying Zaozao, covered in sweat, felt the overwhelming force of his presence, as if he could devour them whole. Fortunately, Fugang kept his composure and said, “I accept responsibility for my failure and am ready to face punishment. Please, Chief, decide my fate.” “Stay aside for now. I’ll deal with you later,” the Chief dismissed Fugang with a wave and pointed at the werewolf. “Bring him closer. I have questions for him.” The werewolf was dragged to the Chief’s feet, who, seeing its lifeless state, lifted its chin with his foot. The werewolf, sensing this, bared its fangs. “Ah, you still have some strength left,” the Chief said with a slight smirk. “Where is Hong Ji?” the werewolf asked weakly. “You want to see her?” The Chief’s gaze narrowed slightly. “Where is she?!” The Chief chuckled softly and said, “She is naturally in my hands, though her situation is not ideal.” “What have you done to her?!” The werewolf’s body tensed, and it clawed at the Chief’s leg, its sharp claws digging into the flesh, drawing blood. “Bold move,” Fugang started to step forward to intervene but was stopped by a fierce glare from the Chief. The Chief remained calm, continuing to smile as he said, “Of course, I’ve given her a taste of suffering. After all, one of my most valued subordinates colluded with wolves from another clan to betray me. If I hadn’t discovered it in time, the Red Wolf Clan might have been destroyed by your Coyote Clan.” “Release her,” the werewolf gritted its teeth. “That doesn’t sound like a plea. If you were more sincere, I might consider it.” “Release her... I beg you. I’ll trade my life for hers.” “Not worth it. I never make unprofitable deals.” The Chief scrutinized him, and after a long pause, he added, “However, if you reveal the entrance to the Coyote Clan’s fortress, I will immediately release both you and Hong Ji. Once your injuries are healed, I’ll even arrange for escorts to see you out of the valley. From then on, you and your lover can live freely wherever you wish.” “Hahaha...” The werewolf laughed bitterly, a mix of derision and self-mockery, “Taimir, it’s true you don’t make unprofitable deals. I knew begging was useless, but I didn’t expect you to be so relentless. If you think a woman can replace the entire Coyote Clan in my eyes, you’re sorely mistaken. I don’t make unprofitable deals either... cough cough...” Taimir’s face darkened, but he didn’t lose his temper. He continued, “Are you truly so heartless?” “I believe Hong Ji will understand. Even in death...” Before he could finish, he spat out a mouthful of blood. Taimir swiftly kicked him, and the werewolf’s head snapped back, the body collapsing at his feet. “Dispose of him.” Taimir waved his hand wearily, and Fugang instructed two others to remove the corpse. At that moment, a peculiar sound echoed through the hall. “Burp... burp burp... burp... burp...” “What’s that sound?” Taimir frowned, and everyone turned their gaze toward the source. Ying Zaozao, huddled in the cage, had her head lowered, desperately covering her mouth with both hands to stifle the sound. She was internally tormented, as the hiccups persisted despite her attempts to hold her breath or take deep breaths. “Burp... burp... you guys go on... burp... don’t mind me... burp...” The werewolves erupted into mocking laughter, their eyes fixed on her with amusement, as if she were a pet in the cage. Taimir’s eyes glinted with a sudden smile. He had just straightened up but now leaned back slightly and said, “I almost forgot about her. Why is she still in the cage? Release her.”
