Silence settled between them.
Finally Owen spoke.

"You met your parents."

She buried her face in a pillow.
"I hate you."
"You absolutely do not."

He was right.
Hours later, evening settled over Nightfall Estate.
Preparations continued.
Tomorrow would be the official ball.
Tonight was simply a welcome banquet.
A chance for packs to mingle.

And spy on one another.

The room went silent.
The question wasn't really about hair.
Or dresses.
Or preparation.

Amelia looked at the woman standing in her doorway.
