Cardan hadn’t said a word since I told him I would help him find the faceless lady… on one condition: he marries me.
And now, the silence was killing me… way more than I cared to admit.
He hadn’t refused, but he hadn’t agreed either. It was worse than rejection… it was indifference.
I couldn’t allow indifference…
I hated to be placed at a blind spot…
So, I did what I always did…
I went to Kai.
He was training in the northern field, his shirt sticking to his chest, the blade in his hand flashing with each swing. He noticed me from the corner of his eye but didn’t stop. I waited until he finished slicing through the last target before walking up to him.
