I didn't know why my heart was beating so fast.
Maybe it was the way Junie looked over her shoulder as she motioned for me to follow. Maybe it was the uneasy silence of the night, or the way the moon hid behind thick clouds like it, too, was scared of what we were about to uncover.
“Where are you taking me?,” I asked, not sure if I should have.
“Keep.your voice low,” she whispered, looking around to be sure we were not being followed.
“As long as you tell me what's going on, and where you're taking me to,” I whispered.
