Chapter three
In the hospital bed Rose was restless as she kept rolling from one side to the other, she just finished crying a river.
She stood up from the bed, and made her way to the door, hoping to get some fresh air outside, but was stopped by the doctor who was coming to check up on her.
Where are you going little girl, don't tell me, you're trying to run away from your medications, I see you don't like taking drugs at all. said the doctor.
I was just going outside to get some fresh air, you worry too much, Rose replied.
The doctor seem like a nice caring grandpa, always coming to check up on her instead of sending the nurses.
Do you have grandchildren? Rose asked, letting her inquisitive thoughts win.
Hahaha , yes I have, they're more than Fifteen in number, I can't even remember all of their names, but you look exactly like my first grandchild. The doctor replied.
Oh wow ! , Rose replied inaudibly.
Why are your eyes looking so terrible, have you been crying? and that reminds me, what about your family, don't you have family, why haven't anyone visited you, since you became hospitalized?
It's been Three days now. The doctor said, with worry forming a long tiny lines on his face.
"No I don't have a family, Rose replied.
How is that possible, what about a guardian, your Uncles and aunties, little girl you should have at least an uncle or an aunt, Said the doctor.
I don't know my uncles and aunts, and I don't know if I have any. Rose replied looking sad.
"poor child", the doctor murmured.
Just then Mrs Florence walked in.
The doctor signalled to Rose who was still standing to go and sit down Inside.
While Mrs Florence settled Rose's hospital bills.
Hello dear, how are you doing today, Mrs Florence asked while sitting beside Rose.
"Am doing great today ma Replied Rose.
So tell me, what about your family, has anyone come since then?
the only family she knows is her stepmom, is my stepmom even worthy to be called my family, never. Damn it, Rose caused. not loud enough to be heard by Mrs Florence
I don't have a family, Rose replied giving the same answer she gave to the doctor earlier.
So sorry to hear that, Does it mean your parents are dead and you don't have any relatives? Mrs Florence asked
I have a stepmom, and step siblings, but they hates me so much that it gets on their nerves that I exist. My dad is dead but my mom is alive somewhere living her best life. Rose replied
That's sad, but am sure your mom is living with regret for abandoning you said Mrs Florence.
She might, she might not, it's her business. Rose replied.
Mrs Florence looked at Rose with Sympathy, So what's that the reason you decided to end your life? Because you don't have a loving family that cares?!
Rose kept silent,
Don't try it again, killing your self is never the best option to end your sufferings and misfortunes.Mrs Florence continued.
You should always have positive thoughts no matter the situation you find yourself in, Okay?
Rose who couldn't hold back her tears, started crying.
While Mrs Florence became confused, she wasn't expecting her to start crying,
Sorry dear, it's okay, pretty girls don't cry Mrs Florence trying to comfort her pulled her closer to a motherly hug, and patted her gently on her back.
Would you go home with me?
Upon hearing that, Rose face lit up with smiles immediately. yes I would love to Rose answered almost immediately.
But I don't live here in Rutland, Mrs Florence said.

Rose had lived all her life in this small beautiful county, not knowing how other places looked like, of course no one would give her the privilege to explore other counties.
That reminds me, What's your name little girl, and how old are you? Mrs Florence asked.
My name is Rose, am eighteen years old.
Aww such a beautiful name given to a beautiful girl. So what about school, were you able to go to school?
I finished my secondary education at sixteen. and that was when my father died.
It's okay, everything is fine now, was your stepmom maltreating you when your dad was alive?
Yes, but her maltreatments were lesser when my dad was alive, after he died, it became unbearable. Rose replied.
"Such a poor child" Mrs Florence said in her mind. I will be leaving Rutland next tomorrow, you're coming with me to Australia where I live and work, I came in to handle some business deals here in Rutland,

Do you have Children Mrs Florence? Rose anxiously asked.
"I had one child", Florence said and paused.
Seeing how she was hesitating to answer, Rose decided to change the topic.
