Chapter 26: The Recovery

The first week after surgery was the hardest for julian. He lay in the hospital bed, his leg elevated and wrapped in bandages, a machine beeping softly beside him. The pain was a constant dull ache that turned sharp whenever he tried to move. The nurses gave him medication to help with the pain, but it only dulled the edges. Sebastian stayed with him every single night. He slept in the hard plastic chair by the window, his neck crooked, his back sore but he did not complain. He just decided to stayed. “You should go home,” Julian said on the third night. “Go get a real sleep seb.” No juls, I am fine staying with you here. “Your back is going to give out.. you will break down.” You need rest too. “Then we will both be broken.” Julian almost laughed. But the pain was too much for him
