BRIAN
It had been a couple of days since I rejected Amara, and I had to admit every day I felt like s**t. I stopped sleeping around and turned down every she-wolf that made any initiative with me. I regretted that day and just as I expected Alex never did try to communicate with me, not once. The only time that I could ever feel his presence was when I would go out for a run and let him take control, and that was about it. When I shift, I could feel Alex shut me out and just take charge the whole time.
Running the pack has become even more stressful for me, even though that it was the daily norm, it felt so tiresome to get through a whole day. I hated myself for ever doing that to Amara, I’m sure after all those years she was so happy to finally see me and heck almost become my mate but because of my problematic f****d-up self, I rejected her. I f*****g screwed up everything. f*****g hell.
I was sitting at my office looking outside so distracted by my thoughts that I didn’t notice my Beta come into my office.
“Brian…”
“Thomas? Sorry I didn’t hear you what is it?” I asked him.
“The party, it’s tonight are you planning to go?” That’s right, I completely forgot that we were invited to a party. Not just any party but Alpha Kyle’s party, though our packs have a neutral relationship, there’s something about him that I really didn’t like. Maybe it’s just me.
“Oh right, yeah just give me a few minutes,” I reply to him as I looked out the window with a blank expression.
“Man, are you still bothered by-?”
“Let’s not talk about that Thomas, it gives me a headache.” I cut his question off. “I’ll mind link you when I’m done and have Boe prepare the car for us,” I told him as I turned my chair away to completely face the window and continue staring outside.
“Understood, Alpha I’ll meet you downstairs.” He said as he shut the door.
Thomas knew about the rejection. He was a good friend and a good Beta, I knew that he was just trying to make me feel better but I don’t think anything will ever make me feel better anymore since that day. She was Goddess’s gift to me and I wasted my chance.

We finally arrived at Silverhide even though we were just a few minutes late. I really didn’t care at this point if I was late or not it was just a party and all we ever have to do is just sit, stand, talk and eat. As we went inside the packhouse, we were greeted by Alpha Kyle’s Beta and Delta, it seems that they were busy talking about something before they noticed my presence.
“Alpha Brian, Beta Thomas good evening. It’s nice to meet you.” The Delta said and bowed at me and then at Thomas.
“Alpha, Beta, good evening.” The Beta followed.
“Pleasure to meet you both.” Both I and Thomas shook their hands in return and slowly made our way inside.
“Please enjoy the party.” The Beta led us into the main hall and I have to say that this place wasn’t that bad. It was spacious and well lit that I could almost tell every Alpha and some of their pack members right away.
“This place isn’t too shabby don’t you think?” Thomas told me.
“Yeah, whoever did this must have spent a lot of time planning.” I said to him.
Just like any other party, everything was just cliché. Just werewolves walking and talking around, eating and drinking. I saw Alpha Kyle just making his rounds to every table and greeted everybody, I was never a fan of chit chat so I stood up from my table and went around the hall. I was now busy talking to Alpha Jay from Red Moon about pack politics and rules when a familiar scent caught my nose, I knew that it was her. She was at this party, she had to be, every pack family was invited. It didn’t take me long to find her, she stood out from the crowd without her knowing it. She seemed to be roaming around the place and I just continued to stare at her when I was cut-off and turned my gaze to Alpha Jay.
“Alpha Brian, you seem distracted are you okay?” Alpha Jay told me.
“My apologies Alpha Jay but I have to go.” I told him as I nodded my head in hopes that I could chase after Amara but I was a bit too late because now I didn’t see her anymore, let alone her scent was almost out of reach. I tried to go and look for her but this place was huge and it felt like a maze and finding her was almost close to impossible now. I went back to the main hall in defeat. Damn it.
“Shit..” I said as I sat down beside Thomas who was drinking wine at our table. I could tell he was bored as f**k.
“Brian? What happened to you?” He sat up and put his drink on the table as soon as he saw me.
“She’s here…” I told him.
“Did she see you?”
“No, she didn’t. I wanted to chase after her but I was too late she’s gone and I don’t know where. This place is too f*****g big.” I said as I combed my hair back in frustration.
“Why are you chasing after her man? You rejected her right?” Thomas asked which made me growl.
“Thomas, I don’t have f*****g time for this.” I scratched the back of my head. “What’s important is that I get her back and make her mine again.” I told him as I sat back and crossed my arms, Thomas didn’t say another word and continued drinking his wine the rest of the time. It seems like all I could ever do is just wait her out until she comes back.
A few minutes already passed and still no sign of her ever coming back to the main hall. Did she sense that I was here? Did her and her family go home without me knowing? Or Did she purposely leave the party? I asked myself a series of questions I knew that I couldn’t answer any of those since I have no f*****g clue. I rested my elbow on the table and bowed my head with defeat.
“Thomas, let’s just get going. Staying here is hell.” I tell him as I slowly stand up, fixed myself.
“I was waiting for your signal I’m getting weary as fuck.” Thomas agreed and stood up.
As we were finally heading out, I caught Amara’s scent again but this time it was mixed with another?
“Thomas, wait here.” I stopped Thomas and told him to wait for me while I go look for Amara once more, it was strange why she had a mixed scent this time.
I went around the main hall looking for her, and there she was but I despised at the sight of her hand in hand with another, and it had to be Kyle. I felt rage and anger filling up my body. What in the world was she doing with Kyle? Who in Goddess’s name got her to accept my rejection ever so willingly only for me to see that she now belongs with that mutt? I could feel a deep growl coming from my chest combined with heavy breathing as I saw her give Kyle a loving touch on the shoulder smiling. That should have been f*****g me. I could hear Alex growling in my head.
I saw them holding hands on their way to a table where most of the Alphas were staying and talking. That was it for me, why would she choose Kyle over me? I was her first, but I have made a mistake of rejecting her and now I have to claim what’s rightfully mine. I saw them approach the table and I stormed my way to them and I uncontrollably ripped out a loud growl which made theirs heads turn to me.
“SHE.IS.MINE!”

AMARA
Tonight couldn’t get even better, I found my second chance mate. I was going to be a Luna to a pack that wasn’t mine which was strange at the same time exciting. I was already so happy at the moment when all of a sudden it came to an end when I picked up another scent that I didn’t really look forward to, I started tensing up a bit and sweat.
"Angel, I'm going to introduce you to my mother and father is that okay with you?" I was distracted by my thought when Kyle asked me.
"Sure love." I’m sure that I gave a nervous tone because I could see Kyle look at me with concern, he gently took my hand and led me towards a table where many Alphas and a few Betas were staying.
"Mother, Father meet my mate." Kyle pointed me to his parents when one person I never thought I would ever see again came from nowhere with a ripping growl that made the people on the table look to him in shock.
“SHE.IS.MINE!”
Ahh s**t.
I swear his growl was loud enough to catch attention most people in the room because I could feel a million stares in our direction. Whispers emitted from the entire room, I felt so embarrassed when suddenly Brian grabbed me by my arm.
“Amara I need to talk with you..” He said.
“LET GO OF HER!” I could hear Kyle growl and ripped Brian by his collar with his eyes slate black.
“No..” Brian replied with the same anger and eyes as Kyle.
“What’s going on here?” I heard my brother Nikolai come to the scene as he looked at me with confusion.
“What did I miss Ame?” he asked looking at me.
“Ame! What’s whit all the commotion?” My mother arrived with father just behind her with concern on their faces. f**k there’s no escape this time, I had to tell my parents and brother who rejected me.
“Dearest let him go!” A Luna around her mid-40’s touched Kyle’s shoulder telling him to let go of Brian. It was his mother.
“This just got interesting.” I heard an Alpha say, I think it was Kyle’s father since he called him that when he tried to introduce me to him.
With everything that just happened so fast, I don’t know what to react. I felt like I could pass out at any second. I just stood there without a word watching Kyle and Brian just stare at each other with jet black eyes. Their dominant Alpha energies were seething, the air was so thick.
Kyle eventually let go of Brian’s collar and turned his gaze into mine.
“Amara. You. Belong. To. Me” he said as he went to me and grabbed me by the waist and held me close to him. One of his large arms wrapped around my body so I couldn’t escape. Why would I though? I have to admit it made me feel a little safer and turned on. What the hell Amara? Get a hold of yourself, there’s still a situation at hand here.
I wanted Kyle to let me go and at least give myself some air from this tension. I pushed Kyle's arm away enough to signal him that I wanted my space, I saw the hurt in his eyes, I knew he didn’t like to let me go but I really need room to breathe. The whispers in the hall still continued and I never felt so embarrassed before. I wasn’t really used to this kind of situation, it was a first for me and I didn’t know how to handle it, I suddenly felt really light on my feet and the whole room started to spin around and I felt my body crash on the ground.
“ANGEL!”
“AME!”
I swore I heard people call my name but I completely blacked out. I could hear Taryn whimper in my head and the commotion that stirred. All I ever felt was somebody was lifting me up and carried me away and that’s it. Goddess among all places, why here? Why now?
