AMARA
“Ame… Ame” Taryn kept calling me.
“Ame… Wake up!”
“What Taryn?! “Goddess, I was already so comfortable sleeping.” I finally woke up and angrily complained to her. That’s when I realized that it's already getting dark outside, I really slept in, if she hadn’t woken me up, then I could’ve slept in the library until morning.
“He’s here….”
“Who’s here?” She didn’t reply and continued to whimper in my head. Damn, this wolf really likes to play the guessing game with me today.
I slowly got up from the bean bag trying to put things back in order, I saw a little pool of drool on one side of the bean bag and chuckled to myself before flipping it upside down to cover the evidence. I felt my stomach grumble as I returned the book I read earlier back to the history section.
“Alright, that’s that.” Rubbing my belly. “What could be the menu for tonight’s dinner?” I said to myself as I went out of the library while skipping on the way to the kitchen. I was already excited about what kind of food my mother and Mrs. Rose had already prepared, I could surely tell from a distance that they were making hot wings, my favorite, I was ready to devour a whole plate. Goddess, I love food.
Just as I was about to make a turn, the delicious scent of hot wings and chili were replaced by a faint scent of peppermint candy and fresh grass. The smell was so curious, that I immediately forgot where I was supposed to go, who could bear such a scent? I followed the unfamiliar aroma; it slowly got stronger and stronger the more I went closer to the packhouse door and out to the veranda, Taryn was getting more and more excited in my head as well. I looked everywhere in the field searching for someone or something that bear’s such an unusual combo of scents.
“Over there, go over there,” Taryn tells me to go to a huge nearby tree just meters away from the packhouse.
“What could we possibly be doing with a damn tree Taryn?” I replied.
“Just trust me, I know he’s there.”
“You’ve been telling about HE for who knows how many times. Who the f**k is HE Taryn?” I was getting annoyed.
“By the way, it’s just two times. More walking, less talking.” This wolf is really something else.
I finally followed what Taryn said and continued walking towards the huge tree by the packhouse, I really didn’t get to notice the size of it until now, of all the years I was living here. That thing was big. The more I walked closer and closer to the tree the scent became ten times stronger, it was so sweet and calming to inhale, it made my skin crawl a bit. It’s quite familiar.
I could see a tall figure of a man standing on the other side of the tree with attention, he seems to be looking for something or someone. His stature was also really familiar and I felt like I knew this person before. Could he really be?
Right when I was about to call out his name, he turned around and his calming green eyes met with mine and I felt my heart beating so fast, I knew it, it was him; I still remembered how we used to play here in Yellow Moon, all the memories came and flashed before my eyes. I swore that I never forgot him, it’s been years since I last saw him and Goddess, he’s become so gorgeous. My childhood friend, Brian Crassus.
“Mate,” he said.
“Mate” I stood there, of all the thoughts I had, that was the only word that came out of my mouth.
BRIAN
“Mate,” We both said to each other.
I knew it, it’s was really her, even from before. The mate pull. I was already facing the most beautiful creature that I ever laid eyes upon. Six years really made a difference, not in a negative way, but in a really, really positive way. She was really small, considering that I was 6.1ft in height. She still had her wavy hair, all the way down to her hips, her chocolate brown eyes, and her cute button nose. I couldn’t take my eyes off her.
I really couldn’t believe it, and I just knew it had to be her. Even from before, it was her. I was blessed by the moon Goddess with such beauty and yet, am I even worthy of having her? I turned my back on my precious Angel as I look back in my thoughts. f**k.
*FLASHBACK* (BRIAN)
It was my 21st birthday, already drunk, stressed, and frustrated. I was in my office doing the deed on my office desk with another she-wolf, Goddess knows how many I brought here. I didn’t even bother to ask names I just went with ‘business’. My d**k was already deep in her pulsating p***y.
“f**k….fuck…fuck..ahh shit.. just like that Bry.”
I grabbed her by the neck locking my eyes on her, “Don’t ever utter my name like that.” I didn’t like it when they call me by that name, it didn’t feel right. No, it wasn’t right. My wolf Alex hated the idea that I didn’t save myself for our mate, I just shove him at the back of my mind. Every time I bring another she-wolf to my office, he would get pissed and growl at me.
“s**t, I’m about to cum.” Biting my lip.
“W-wait, not---” I pulled out my d**k, turned her over, and came on her ass.
“Ah..fuck”
“I didn’t even get to c*m yet.” She whined. It made me growl in annoyance, “Just leave.”
“Bitch.” She stood up and went out of my office, not saying another word. It was better that way. I really didn’t care about them. Just s*x, no attachments.
*END OF FLASHBACK* (BRIAN)
I wasn’t ready to become Alpha so soon, right after my mother knew that my father cheated and left her for a human during his overseas business trip. All of Darkmoon’s loyalties and responsibilities were burdened on me at the age of eighteen. I didn’t know what to do about being an Alpha, I had no father to guide me on the ropes, I only had my mother beside me and she taught me as much as she knew on how to manage the pack even though she was still in pain knowing that her mate left her for another. Everything else was all me. Sleepless nights, long stressful meetings, both working and studying the pack’s businesses; that’s how it got to the point where I would invite, she-wolves in my office just to give me the pleasure that I wanted.
I was guilty. I didn’t deserve a sweet and innocent Angel like Amara. I knew this had to be done, to save her from the gossip and chaos of my life. I turned to face Amara once more, this would be torturous.
“I, Brian Crassus, Alpha of the Darkmoon pack, hereby reject you, Amara Layla Smith, as my mate,” I said while swallowing the heavy lump in my throat. I saw her frozen at what I just said. Is she going to fight for me?
“I, Amara Layla Smith, daughter of Liam and Martine Smith of the Yellow Moon Pack, hereby accept your rejection.” She finally answered me but it was not what I was expecting. She turned her heel and ran away back to the packhouse.
I fell down my knees, what have I done? I rejected our mate and she accepted it. I could hear Alex’s piercing howl of despair in my head. We lost our mate. We lost her. A stray tear fell down my eyes as I heard my Gamma mind link me that he was there to pick me up. The trip back to Darkmoon was miserable. Alex isn’t responding to me anymore; I knew it’ll be a long time before he does. We lost our Angel.
