After 8 years
Alpha Adam’s P.O.V.
Every one of us is suffering from an anonymous torment somewhere, which cannot be described. Some accidents happen in a person's life in such a way that he cannot forget them even if he wants to. People say that time heals every wound. But what if time can not make up for someone's shortcomings?
Absolutely not, the grief of losing a loved one forever never subsides. A similar accident happened to me when I felt that my life was over. I felt that I was on burning coals, standing barefoot ... but no, this pain is much less than the pain I felt after losing my brother.
Yes, my seventeen-year-old brother was brutally killed by his best friend.
I am Alpha Adam, a powerful Alpha of the Bright Diamond Pack. People consider me cruel. My father was Alpha king, our pack is big and we are continuously growing and expanding on the business side of things. My father helps with some of the business, since I'm usually busy running the pack.
Making ensuring that everyone in your pack is secure and content is a difficult responsibility of being an alpha. It's especially challenging given that I also have to manage my businesses. A few years ago, my dad gave up his position as Alpha King. He first held off giving over to me since I hadn't met my mate yet, but as he realized that I am capable of handling the responsibilities of an Alpha even without my partner, he ultimately caved and stepped down for me.
Within two years, I became used to my role as the Alpha and learned how to effectively manage my time so that I could carry out my obligations to my people while still making time for enjoyment. It's not my fault that I haven't met my mate yet. Actually, I don’t want a mate. I always thought that a mate weakens you. I just wanted one thing in my life and that was revenge.
It'd been eight years but it was still painful that his murderer was still alive. His revenge is yet to be fulfilled. I wanted to kill the culprit mercilessly but my dad forced me to stop. The fire inside me was still burning.
Dad wanted to follow the rules but I was not in favor of that. I want Enzo Regan, not his sister.
"Is my brother’s blood so priceless that you are bargaining for his merciless murder? I don’t want his sister. I want him to be killed.” I said, trying to convince him.
"This is not a bargain. This has always been the case and will continue to be the same. The girl has been demanded because we think it is appropriate at the moment. But soon we will erase the name of Regan’s family." Dad consoled me. I fell silent. I waited for eight years and today was that day. Today was the day of revenge.
I turned my head and looked at the timer. It was evening time. I got up from my chair and put away the file folder that I was working on, before leaving my office and heading down the hall towards my father's office.
As I approached his office door to knock, I halted when I overheard my parents conversing inside. My werewolf hearing allowed me to overhear their talk.
“I don’t know what Regan is doing now. It seems that he doesn’t intend to fulfill his promise. He hid his daughter somewhere else. But I will find her.’ Dad’s voice echoed. I frowned.
“There is another problem. The pack members are beginning to fear that Adam won't have an heir and that there won't be a Luna to take over, so he has to pick a partner. The fact that he has delayed so long has angered the elders. He is not taking any interest in this matter because of the same girl who has not even come yet. What if he chose that girl who would come in bloodshed? I think we should kill that girl before she comes here and her family too. I don’t want her to give birth to our grandson.” In a quiet voice, my mother spoke. She made an irate and frazzled noise.
"I know. He's just so dang obstinate, and every time I've brought it up with him, he just blows it off. I think you’re right. We should end this matter and…" My father began to speak, but I grew furious and stopped listening. I abruptly opened the door and interrupted him. With surprised looks on their faces, my parents both turned to face me.
"Son, we were just talking about y…" My mother started to speak, but I cut her off.
"Listen, I've told you before, I'm not taking a chosen mate and don’t worry about that girl. She is just a means of revenge." I said, with irritation clear in my tone.
“It was you who told me that we should wait patiently for the time when we would take our revenge on this girl and torment her brother, and now that the day has come, you are talking about giving them an easy death.” My voice was getting higher. How could they even think of that? I’ve waited a long time for that.
“I know you want revenge but they have hidden their daughter. We will have to wait to resolve the matter. It is better…”
“No, I just want that girl now. If they try to resist, then they have to face my wrath. I am going to get that girl.” I said in a firm tone, deciding to go get the Blue Moon pack.
“Promise me, you will not give that girl any space in your life. You will treat her like the sister of your brother’s murderer.” My mother eagerly grabbed my hand and looked at my face with a plea in her eyes.
“Do you think your son is so weak?” I asked in a soft tone. My mother was the only one who softened my face. She could soften my heart.
“"We adore you, honey, and desire you to be content as well, but I feared that…”
"Don’t worry. He is my son. He never forgives anyone." My father growled and spat. I looked at his face for a moment and then left.
I called my Beta to the office. I've trusted him with my life. Jag sighed in despair as he looked at my dark face.
"What's going on, Alpha?" he asked, with a worried face.
“Be ready. Prepare a group of five warriors. We are travelling to Blue Moon’s Pack.” When I ordered, Jag only nodded.
I was going to teach Alpha Regan and his family a lesson. If they don’t hand the girl to me, they will lose their son. Today they have to choose, either a daughter or a son. I was going to block every escape route for them.
I am Alpha Adam. I never forgive anyone.
