Chapter 3

1708 Words
Silas "I-Impossible. You can't be serious." Her sweet voice, which I have been aching to hear, comes out strangled as she steps back, surprised, but a second, then another, and her face begins to reveal that her wolf has confirmed the fact. I didn't accept the rejection that night, because I wasn't planning to reject her, and cheat on her. It was all a hoax to protect others and her. "Don't resist it, now that it's back, Ava. We are meant to be." I say, trying to hold her hand, and as soon as my fingers brush her palm, sparks run down my spine before she harshly swats my hand away, glaring at me. "Michael, take our guest away." She says, each word stamping on me, as I gaze at her worriedly. She doesn't look good, and I am worried that the sudden revelation may have affected her. I try to resist again, but if I remember right, her friend Camilla and another guy come to stand before her, shielding her. "Take a rest, Silas. The ball is tomorrow." The fiery red hair and the voice, as I remembered it, fell in my ears as Camilla matched her lord by glaring at me. However, another guy whom I am seeing for the first time bothers me. He doesn't smell like a wolf, and why is he standing so close to Ava? I try to have a closer look, but Michael obstructs my view by standing in front of me. Reluctantly, I turn around, but before I leave the throne room, I see that guy wrap an arm around Ava's shoulder, but the door closes, and I am unable to do anything. The sight bothers me, and Aaron, my wolf, also expresses his disappointment. 'I don't like that guy, Silas. He is a vampire.' He grunts in my head. 'I know, Aaron. I didn't like how close he was to her.' I answer back, feeling extremely jealous and irritated by that arm around her shoulders. That should have been me. Dammit! I curse inwardly before deciding to inquire about him to Michael, "Michael, who was that other guy in the room. He doesn't smell wolf." I ask. He doesn't stop, walking as if his feet are on fire, but still answers after a couple of beats, "He is Vincent, our Alpha's Beta. He is a vampire." He stops in front of another building, resembling a hotel, which I am seeing for the first time. "Please go inside, and the staff will escort you to your room," he says, curtly refusing to allow any other questions. I nod and go inside. The interior was stunning and otherworldly. I could feel her touch in every place, and not just here but in the whole kingdom. Ava is extraordinary, and she was meant to shine. Her aspirations and dreams were far too big for a place like SilverMoon. 'Alpha, where are you?' I smile at the maid who helped me with my room, before closing the door, and replying to my beta, Ian. 'At the hotel.' 'What about me!? You left me stranded at this hamburger restaurant, remember!?' He screams in my head, and for a second, I question the existence of our mind-link. 'So? Stop whining, and find your way to the BlueMoon hotel.' I am about to end our connection when he suddenly slips in a bait, like the sly negotiator he is. 'Wait, so does that mean you are not curious about what I heard at the restaurant about Luna Ava?' 'Tell me.' 'I think I will be able to tell it clearly to you in person, so how about sending someone to get me as soon as possible?' He sounds cheery, as if he has made a great suggestion. 'Stop forcing me to find myself a new beta, and spill.' I spit. 'I heard people talking about her and her beta. His name is Vincent. Their gossips suggest that they are in a relationship, because they mentioned something about him providing her with nightly service.' He quickly says, and I curse. I knew something was f*****g wrong about him. However, 'Gossips are gossips, Ian. Don't believe anything.' I will check whether they are true or not myself. I finally end our conversation and arrange for someone to pick him up, like the princess he is. But it's hard to escape from what he said. It keeps revolving in my head. I have loved Ava ever since I met her when I was eight, and she was seven. I remember the first time Beta Everett brought her to the house while he had some business with Father. She was a wild kid from the start, rebellious too. She wasn't scared of anything. I love her spirit and everything about her. However, my father didn't like her because she and her friends were the sole opposers to his system of running the pack. Except Ava and her friends. They would regularly go to pubs, a place reserved for only males. Practice combat, goddess knows from where in the clearing openly. One time, she even started visiting the office with her father, calling herself the future beta. I chuckle, remembering the ruckus she caused that day when she found out that females can't hold any ranks in SilverMoon. I opposed Father, too, but he shut me down using two of my biggest strengths. I also had to act like him because I had no other option. I was slowly building my strength. She also hated me because I was called a carbon copy of my father, because he was moving me like a puppet. People were scared of us and would only talk in hushed whispers, but not her. She stood against us like a warrior, which led Father to make a plan against her. A plan to kill her, but thankfully, I got my hands on it through his advisor. I had bribed to my side long ago. No one except a few rotten elders like him was happy with the way the pack was—conservative, old and suffocating. It was hell for females and pups, but no one was able to do anything because he was abusing his authority as an Alpha. I was slowly trying to make it better for her, building SilverMoon the way she wanted, until one of my men betrayed me and ruined everything. But, I didn't lose and accept defeat. However, in the process, I had to temporarily lose Ava to protect her and our future, but now I have achieved my plans. SilverMoon has become mine, and the way she wanted. The people are happy, and the culprits are all in prison as they should have been. So, now, I must have her back—my love, my Luna, and my everything. I need to show her that I am different. I am not like my Father. 'To do that, we must start with the ball tomorrow. Let everyone know she is taken' Aaron huffs in my head, excited, and I nod. Quickly, I dial the number on the telephone to contact the hotel staff, asking them to deliver a special request to Ava. I let them know that I am requesting to escort her. I wait for her reply, but it arrives in the evening after a wait of five hours. Ian also safely reaches the hotel in the meantime, wolfing down food as I attend to the maid, who brought her reply. "Alpha is saying that she already has plans for tomorrow night." I close the door after thanking her. This won't do. "What are you doing?" Ian asks, looking up from his plate of food. "Planning to pay a visit," I answer, removing my suit, which would only be a hindrance when I climb her wall. "To whom?" He asks again, and I look at him over my shoulder. "Your luna," I say, and close the door on his annoying face, smeared with sauces. I leave the hotel and go to the mansion, not very far from the main market. I saw it this morning. The moment I saw it, I knew it was hers. I freeze when I arrive by jumping across the back wall. Everyone was here, including that vampire. However, among the loud chatter, I couldn't hear her. I hide my scent and quietly walk around before trying my luck and climbing the window of the room on the second floor. There may be a possibility that she hasn't joined the conversation yet. Within a few minutes, I arrive on the balcony of the second floor, and, surprisingly, the doors were open. Just as I am thinking, I will later tell her to close it properly, my eyes fall on her as she appears from behind a door, I am assuming it to be a bathroom because of the bathrobe clinging to her body. She is gently rubbing her wet hair with a towel, walking absent-mindedly towards the balcony until her eyes meet mine, widening within seconds with her lips falling apart, and her fingers losing the grip on her towel as I quickly let myself in and block her mouth with my palm. "Please, don't yell, Ava. I am here to talk." I quickly say, but she glares at me like an angry Catwoman. I remind myself to stop f*****g admiring her right now when she grabs my hand tightly to remove it from her face, "If you do, you will have to answer hundreds of questions as to what I am doing here while you are in this state, and don't think about telling them that I sneaked in because how can I? A mere wolf sneaking into your, the Alpha of the Vampiria Kingdom's house?" I ramble whatever plausible excuse comes to my mind. She stops struggling for a moment before her eyes go droopy, a sign that she has had enough of me. I remove my hand once I have confirmed that she won't yell. However, the moment I remove my hand, she tricks me and opens her lips wide as if she is about to scream, leading me to swallow it by sealing them again, but with my lips this time.
