CONTROVERSIAL LOVE

CHAPTER TWO

I groan and try to feel around for my phone so I can turn my alarm off. I could not find it, my eyes snapped open and I scratch my eyes vigorously to get the sleep off it.

My mum was still sound asleep. Thank goodness because I did not want to wake her up. Working in the Reyes Mansion can be really tiring. I can tell from the way she sleeps.

It will all be over soon.

I thought to myself, I'm in my third year of college and I have started turning in applications for internship to different companies. That's what I would be doing during the break.

Internship pays well than the part-time jobs I have so I will be able to gather more money to pay off the debt.

We are still owing like $200 million. We have to pay it off soon because the bank are already threatening to take our house.

I'm sure they know we cannot pay that huge amount of money off at one but it's not their fault. It is just business.

Enough thinking, my phone rings and I checked to see who is calling and found out that it was my boyfriend, I smiled. I sometimes wonder what he is still doing with me. I don't really have time for him, we have never….you know done the ‘s’ word.

Boy is in love cause that's the only explanation I can give because I am really likable. Apart from being intelligent, beautiful and having a nice body, I have extremely gorgeous skin. People find it difficult to believe that I am from an humble background.

“Hey babe” his hoarse voice calls from the phone.

“Hey Nathan, how have you been?”

“I missed you” he grumbles and I flush.

I can imagine him pouting right now. He does that a lot.

“You know I have offered to help out with the debt a little so you won't have to work so much babe”

“I know, but I don't want you to. Where will I tell my mum that the money is coming from besides I can handle myself”

“Yeah, whatever. Little Miss Independent”

“Just wanted to check in on you, see you tonight?”

“Yeah, sure. I don't have a night shift tonight”

“We can go on the date you have been grilling me about.”

“Alright, bye now love. I will pick you up by 7pm.”

With that, he hung up. I got up to prepare for the day. My mum was awake and in the shower by now.

I went to pick out what to wear while waiting for her to finish up. She came out and I greeted her then dashed into the bathroom.

I have to get to work then get to class. After taking a shower which I found refreshing, I got ready and left for work. Today is about to be another long ass day.

I got to work and did my thing. Got to class, took down some notes and headed to the library. Exams are coming up and I'm not taking any chances

Not even work would stop me from reading. I read for a while and went through what would be taught in the next class for a bit and went back home.

I entered the house and the place was literally empty. OMG, I texted my mum but it is taking forever for her to reply me so I dashed out only to come face to face with my neighbor.

“Your mum left this note for you”, she said and handed me a small note.

The bank came today and demanded that we leave immediately without a prior notice. I informed my boss and she said we could move in so come to this address tomorrow. You can sleep in the house but don't turn on the light, the bank might have people watching the house around. I left a sleeping bag and blanket in your room. I'm sorry, I know I should have called or texted you but my head was all over the place because of the bank.

I sighed after reading the note and went back into the house. I would have loved to cancel the date with Nathan but I have been pushing him away to much lately and I don't want to hurt the poor boy. So I waited for him to come.

I could not change my clothes or anything because there was literally nothing I could change into.

I heard a soft knock on the door taking me out of my thoughts.

“Babe?” “Are you in there?”

“Coming”.

I went out and met a very confused Nathan.

“Why was the lights turned off?, I was about to call you thinking you were not in” he said, brows furrowed

“Let's go, I will explain later”

“Alright”.

He opened the passenger's seat for me and I got in.

He went around the car, got into the driver's side and drives off. We were headed to Kristy's I think.

Yeah, definitely Kristy's.

We got out and headed in. We found a seat close to the window, our usual spot.

“Wanna explained what happened back there?” Nathan inquired as soon as we sat down.

“Well, the bank happened” I replied in a low voice

“What?? They took the house??, where is your mum? Have you found a place to stay?” He said all at once, an octave high with each question.

“Nathan, calm down and ask one question at a time”

“Yes, the bank took the house.” “My mum is at her work place and we found a place to stay, my mum's boss was kind enough to give us a place to stay”.

He breathed out in relief.

“I told you that I should help you babe but you are just too stubborn, now you see what your stubborness has caused” he scolded sternly.

“Yeah, I know but it's fine”

“I don't want to be a burden”

“You are never a burden babe, you know that.”

“You know all this talk is just making me hungry, so let's get something to eat already” I laughed just to lighten up the mood.

“Yeah, whatever” he rolls his eyes.

Soon we were done with dinner, he paid and drove me back home.

“Are you sure you will be fine alone? Why not come and sleep over at my place?”

“It's fine, I will be fine alone. I'm not a baby” I pout.

“Alright, should I come

pick you tomorrow? I would drive you to the place”

“Yeah, sure. Goodnight babe”

He bid me goodbye and left.
