CHAPTER THREE

God it's morning again. I yawned tiredly and took a shower. I put my sweatpants and hoodie back on. Not like I have anything other thing to wear anyways.
I placed a call to Nathan so he could come pick me up. I already took a break from my part-time jobs for today.
I needed to help mum unpack even though we don't really have much. I'm sure she would not have done that, she would be too tired.
I heard a honk outside, that must be Nathan. I packed my sleeping bag and blanket into a duffle bag.
I made sure to turn off every switch in the house and shut the door behind me. I don't want the bank to call my mum to give any stupid complaints.
I saw Nathan waiting by his car outside and gave fine a small smile.
“Hazel, are you okay? You look exhausted” he said calmly.
“Yeah, I'm fine. Let's go”
We got into the car and I gave Nathan the address. Immediately he saw it, he looked shocked but quickly covered it with a smile.
“What's wrong Nathan?”
“Nothing” he said dismissively and inputted it into the GPS.
I knew he was lying and I wanted to press further but decided again if. I'm too tired to anyway.
The car slowly came to a stop cutting me off from my sweet nap.
“Wow, this place is huge” I stated marvelled at the gigantic mansion in from of me.
“Yeah, right” Nathan snorted.
I wanted to ask him why he reacted like that but I kept quiet.
“Should I wait babe?”
“No, I will be fine on my own. You know my mum does not really like you anyways”
“Alright babe, call me later?”
“Yeah, sure”.
With that, he drove off and I'm left alone in front of this place.
I rang the doorbell and waited for a response. No response?? That's weird. I rang the doorbell again and again. I was already tired so I texted my mum.
Mum, I'm here already. Is anyone home because I have been ringing the doorbell for a while now and I did not get any response. Please come and fetch me.
I sat in front of the house and waited for my mum. She came out after a while and gestured for me to follow her. I did quietly.
I thought the exterior of the house was beautiful, I changed my mind when I saw the interior. This place is gorgeous I thought.
I wonder what kind of family lives here because this house is screaming luxury.
Yes, I don't know who my mum works for. I only know that she works as a maid in some place.
We went in through the back door and my mum led me through a door.
OMG, this is beautiful. The room only is bigger than where we used to live in.
The walls are grey in color, the huge windows had white curtains covering them. There is a bed in the middle of the room and it is big enough to suit two people.
I noticed another door, I opened it and saw a very neat and beautiful bathroom. There is also a huge closet at one corner of the room. The boxes containing our little properties were laid gently beside the closet.
“This is the maid's quarters??”
My mum nodded.
If the maid's quarters is this big, then how big would the family's room be?
This is crazy. Just how much money does this people have.
I started unboxing immediately, what other time would I have to do that considering the s**t ton of part-time jobs I have and I have school to worry about to.
My mum had left the room already at this point, someone came to fetch her.
I was almost done with unboxing when a woman with raven black hair walked in with my mother.
“So Mrs Stone, this is your daughter?” She said looking at me from head to toe with an expression I can't seem to understand.
My mum nodded and I took it as my cue to introduce myself.
“Good afternoon ma, I am Hazel Stone, Mrs Stone's daughter. Thank you so much for giving us a place to stay. I will try my very best not to trouble or discomfort you in anyway.”
She replied with a impressed smile.
I finished unpacking after a short while and decided to call Nathan. He picked up after the second ring, “Hey babe, how are you doing? Hope you are settling in well?
“Yeah, I am. I met my mum's boss today and she seems…..nice I guess.”
“That's cool. That way I will be rest assured about you living in that place.”
“Yeah, right. I will talk to you later. I need to rest. I have gat a busy day tomorrow.”
“Alright, bye babe.”
We ended that call with that. I decided to go search for my mum and I saw her in the kitchen after a short while. The good thing about this house is that the maid's quarters is close to the kitchen so it will be easy for me not to run into anyone in this family. I don't want any trouble for my mum and I.
OMG I forgot to inform Aurora about the move. She is going to be so pissed at me.
I decided to give her a call. I dialed her line and she picked up after a while.
“Hey babe girl”, she said in a sing-song voice.
“Uhmm……I wanted to see if we could meet up, I have something to tell you and I don't want to do it over the phone”.
“Why are you sounding so serious? Besides, you have never asked to meet up first, are you sure that you are fine?”
“Yeah, I am. So…..6' o'clock?”
“Yeah, sure. Let's meet up at Kristy's.”
“Bye babe”.
I have about an hour before I meet Aurora so I went to inform my mum first. She gave me permission to go because she basically thinks of Aurora as a daughter. She signed to me to home by 8pm because that's when the Chairman would be back and she wouldn't want me to run into him.
I took a shower, wore something comfortable and left the house. I walked to the bus stop to catch the bus.
I got to Kristy's in about 30 minutes and I saw that Aurora was already waiting for me with a worried expression on her face. You'd think I'm about to tell her that I'm dying or something.
“So, what's wrong babe? She asked as soon as my ass hits the sit.
“So…..uhm…..I wanted to tell you that we lost the house”
“You what???” She said in a loud shierk and almost everyone in the restaurant turned their eyes on us.
“Calm down Rora, it's not the end of the world” I said dismissively trying my best not to break down because she would break down too
“What do you mean it's not the end of the world? Where are you staying now? I hope they did not throw your things out? What about Mum? Is she okay?, Talk to me Hazel”
“You did not even give me the chance to speak seeing that you attacked me with so many questions at once. Yeah, it's not the end of the world. We are staying at Mum's boss place. They were kind enough to give us a place to stay. The bank did not throw our things out. Mum is fine and okay so don't worry so much bestie” I replied breathlessly
She breathed
out in relief and squeeze my hand softly over the table.
We were about to place an order when I said that her eyes darkened.
