18 - 18 - Aleph swore when the door alert sounded, swore even more when she saw Miolar in the Eye feed. “I’m busy,” she said. “You always are. But it’s important that we talk,” Miolar said, as smooth as ever, tones Aleph couldn’t trust. At least he was more human than Cat, though. That man gave her the creeps. “My work’s important too.” Miolar nodded. “Maybe more important than you realise. That’s why we need to talk.” Aleph sighed. “Fine. Make it quick.” The door clicked open, and Miolar stepped in, removing his hat as he looked around. Aleph watched him, from the corner of her eye. “Mention anything about mess, and I’ll punch you,” she said. “Each to their own.” He threw her a smile, then lifted a couple of plates from the spare chair, placed them on the floor, and sat, his ha
