15 - 15 - Once again, Rodin walked. At one point he entered a cafe, the aromas churning his stomach so hard he was tempted to leave. But the screens on the wall showed Leopold, a talking-head shot. The volume was muted, but a transcription ran along the bottom of the image. Rodin read, and it confirmed what that i***t had said outside the fancy restaurant. Leopold wanted to make a deal with Authority. That wasn’t the way the Councillor worded it, of course. He spoke of discourse and compromise, said that words were more powerful than weapons. A few customers in the cafe raised their glasses as Leopold said how he disagreed with the direction the Council, under the new Head, were taking. He was their hero.
