Chapter three: Stealing glances

1632 Words
Hope's P.O.V It was 6pm and everyone was away home, well except myself, Rosa and Mr Taylor. I had a good first day. Mostly everyone was nice except the odd few. I seemed to pick up on everything quickly, Rosa was a great help and one of the sweetest woman I have ever met. “Rosa you can head home. Hope can you come to my office please?” we heard Mr Taylor voice come through the intercom “OK. See you tomorrow Marcus. Goodnight.” She replied “Goodnight Rosa.” He replied back “I will see you in the morning sweetie. Enjoy dinner with Markus. He has been warned to be nice. Goodnight.” She smiled, patting my shoulder “Goodnight and thank you for all your help today.” I smiled She gave me a nod before heading out. I took a deep breath making my way back to Mr Taylor’s office. I knocked lightly “Come in Miss Clark.” He called out I walked in finding him resting back in his chair, feet on his desk. His tie was off...his top buttons of his shirt undone, showing off his smooth chest. I licked my lips as I looked at him, blushing soon after cause I felt bad for looking at him the way I did. “Hi.” I whispered shyly, pushing my hair behind my ear “Hello. How was your first day?” he asked “Really good thank you. How was the rest of your day Sir?” I asked “Busy.” He chuckled “ready for a large scotch and good food.” He added I giggled, making him look at me, a small smile on his lips. “Ready to go?” he asked standing from his seat, grabbing his things “Yup.” I smiled shyly “Did you drive here?” he asked “I don't drive. I prefer walking.” I smiled He nodded, heading for the door and I soon followed him out. He locked his office door over, security will be here until later, and they will lock up behind us. Mr Taylor placed his hand on the small of my back, sending a shiver shoot through my spine. I was hoping he never felt it. I heard a soft chuckle from his lips, feeling my cheeks burn up. He let us to the lift, taking us down to the garage. “Are you always this quiet?” he asked looking at me “Yes until I get to know someone then I do not shut up.” I giggled “Well then by the end of the night you should not be shutting up then.” He chuckled “This is us.” He said stopping in front of a yellow convertible “Nice.” I smiled It was a beautiful car...very sexy. I have a feeling it is very him. He nodded in appreciation before opening the passenger’s door for me, letting me climb in first before letting himself into the car. “Ready?” he asked “Yes.” I said smiling at him Marcus and I were soon on our way, driving the short distance to where we were having dinner. My mouth about hit the floor when we pulled up outside…he was taking me to Elegance, one of the most exclusive restaurants in the state of NYC. You have to wait at least a few months to get a reservation. “I cannot go in there dressed like this.” I said panicked “Yes you can. You look fine the way you are Miss Clark.” He smiled “How did you even get a reservation here? It is nearly impossible?” I asked “It is one of my best friends that co-own the place and also he is the head chef. I can get a reservation anytime I want because well I own half of It.” he chuckled “Well that would explain a lot.” I giggled “But I honestly still don’t feel comfortable going in dressed like this. You are OK you are dressed in a very elegant suit…and look at me in a pant suit with a blouse and kitten heels.” I added “Would you be more comfortable if I took you home to get changed?” he asked “Would you mind? I don’t wanna be any bother?” I asked nervously “No bother at all. I will text Dale and tell him we will be a little later.” He smiled “Thank You.” I whispered, pushing my hair behind my ears, giving him a shy smile I gave him my address, the two of us heading over to my place. “I will wait here for you.” He smiled “Don’t be silly, come in. I won’t be too long.” I smiled He nodded, the two of us climbing out of the car and heading into my apartment. As soon as he walked in he looked around “This apartment reminds me of my first one when I finished college. I loved the place, still own it, stay there from time to time.” He smiled “It is nothing spectacular but it is home and I love it. Love the view of the city I get from it.” I smiled “Help yourself to a soda or some water in the fridge, I will only be ten minutes at the most.” I added He nodded, continuing to look around, standing by the window and admiring the view. I headed into my bedroom, hoping to find a dress that was nice enough for where we were going. I never wanted to look out of place that would make me more anxious than I already am. I raided through my clothes, eventually finding a dress that was classy. I undressed, changing into my dress and a pair of heels…not too high. I pulled my dark hair from my bun, running a brush through it, making it going into lose waves. I applied a little lip gloss and I was ready to go. I was hoping it was not too much, don’t want him thinking I am trying to impress him or something because I am not, I am not that kind of girl. “Ready.” I said, pulling him from still looking out of my window “The view from here…oh my.” He said, his eyes exploring my now dress cladded body I swallowed hard…the way he was looking at me making me feel strange…it was giving me butterflies. I blushed, turning away from him, playing with my hair. It is what I do when I am nervous or feeling uncomfortable. I see him out the corner of my eye coming towards me slowly…his eyes still watching me. It only took him a moment to appear right in front of me. I slowly looked back at him in time for me to see him running his tongue over his lower lip…repeating the motion. “M…Mr Taylor, wh…why you looking at me like that?” I managed to breathe out I don’t know what was wrong with me, him being this close to me was making me weak…anxious. He never answered my question, not straight away. I looked at him, right in the eye and he must have sensed how anxious I was. “Sorry, you just look so different…absolutely stunning.” He added with a smile “And please outside of the office call me Marcus.” He added in a chuckle “OK.” I manged to breathe out “And thank you.” I added, pushing my hair behind my ear, looking at the ground “You are something else Miss Clark. I think you are gonna be trouble for Me.” he chuckled “What do you mean by that?” I asked confused I am gonna be trouble? Trouble how? I don’t do trouble? “Your innocence is sweet.” He smiled “Let’s get going.” He added I smiled nervously at him, nodding my head. His hand found its way around my waist, leading us back outside…leading us to his car again, helping me in the way he did earlier. I was lost in my own little world as we drove through the city, his words replaying in my head...I am gonna be trouble for him. I don’t understand what exactly he means and I was not sure if it was a good or a bad thing. Does he mean he is attracted to me? Or does he mean something else? I knew he would not tell me. I turned to face him, watching him for a moment. His eyes were fixed on the road ahead…my eyes fixed on him. I know I should not be looking at him this way, he is my boss for crying out loud but he really was beautiful. I could not help myself. I see a smirk creeping on his lips…shit! He caught me. I was quick to pull away, diverting my attention to the people in the street as we drove. Surely I cannot be attracted to my boss? I am sure that is against company policy. I am hoping it was only a moment of weakness and whatever this was I was feeling would be gone by work tomorrow…I really hope anyway.
