CHAPTER 4 As Tayo squeezed Aisha's hand, the cafe's buzz faded into the background. They sat there, eyes locked, the promise of more hanging in the air. Finally, Aisha pulled her hand away gently, grabbing her bag. "I have a meeting at 2 PM. Gotta prep," she said, smiling. Tayo nodded, standing up. "I'll walk you out." They strolled through Victoria Island's streets, dodging vendors and cars. At Aisha's car, Tayo leaned in, his lips brushing her cheek. "Looking forward to next time," he whispered. Aisha smiled, driving off into the Lagos traffic. Her phone buzzed – Tayo: _Next time, dinner at mine?_ Aisha typed back: _Deal._ The days blurred – dates, laughter, late-night talks. Tayo introduced Aisha to his friends at a rooftop party in Lekki. Aisha fit right in. Tayo's family, though... that was a different story. Aisha met them at their Ikoyi home, nerves jittering. Tayo's mom, warm but guarded; his dad, firm but curious. "So, Aisha, what do you do?" his dad asked, sipping tea. Aisha smiled, explaining her event-planning gig. Tayo's mom nodded, asking about her family. Aisha dodged, focusing on Tayo's hand on her knee. As they left, Tayo squeezed her hand. "They liked you." Aisha raised an eyebrow. "Liked me?" Tayo chuckled. "Okay, they’re curious. But I like you." Aisha's heart melted. Weeks flew. Tayo took Aisha to Owerri for a family gathering. Aisha charmed his aunts, danced with his cousins. Tayo beamed, hand on her waist. Back in Lagos, Aisha's phone buzzed one night. Tayo calling. "Hey," he said, voice low. "Want to meet tomorrow? My place." Aisha smiled. "Yeah. Want to bring food." Tayo laughed. "I'll cook." Next evening, Aisha arrived at Tayo's penthouse. Smells of jollof rice and chicken filled the air. Tayo kissed her, handing her a plate. "Dinner’s ready." As they ate, Tayo pulled out a box. "Aisha?" he asked, voice shaking. Aisha's heart stopped. "Aisha, from that night at the wedding... I knew." Tayo opened the box – a diamond sparkled. "Will you be mine?" Aisha's eyes welled up. "Yes." Tayo slid the ring on, kipping her close. "Forever," he whispered.
