Obsidian Nights

Episode 6: Obsidian Nights The dress Adrian sent over was a statement. Kira held it up in her penthouse, watching the fabric shimmer in the light—black silk that looked liquid, cut dangerously low in the front and back, with a slit that went nearly to her hip. It was designed to showcase rather than conceal. To announce rather than whisper. This wasn't a dress for hiding. This was armor for war. She smiled. The note attached was written in Adrian's elegant script: *Wear this tonight. I want them to see exactly what's mine.* Possessive bastard. Her dragon purred with approval. Kira showered and took her time getting ready. She swept her dark hair up into an elegant twist that exposed her neck—the neck Adrian had fed from, marked, claimed. She applied makeup with precision: smoky eyes, red lips, a subtle shimmer on her collarbones that would catch the light. When she slipped into the dress, it fit like it had been made for her body. Probably had been. Adrian was thorough like that. She looked at herself in the mirror and barely recognized the woman staring back. Not the ruthless CEO in her power suits. Not the dragon queen who ruled boardrooms with an iron fist. This was something else entirely. This was a woman who belonged to someone. Who had chosen to belong. And who was about to walk into a room full of vampires and announce that choice to the world. Her phone buzzed. Adrian: *The car is waiting.* Kira grabbed her clutch—small, elegant, containing nothing but her phone and lipstick—and headed downstairs. The car was a sleek black Mercedes with tinted windows. The driver opened the door without a word, and Kira slid into the back seat. Adrian was waiting. He looked devastating in a black suit that fit him perfectly, his dark hair swept back, his eyes already showing hints of crimson in the dim interior light. When he saw her, those eyes flared fully red for just a moment before he controlled himself. "f**k," he breathed. "You're going to cause a riot." "That's the idea, isn't it?" Kira settled beside him, crossing her legs so the slit revealed a dangerous amount of thigh. "You wanted them to see what's yours." "I did." His hand immediately went to her bare knee, possessive and warm. "But now I'm reconsidering. Maybe I should keep you locked in my chambers where no one else can look at you." "Too late for that." Kira leaned in, her lips brushing his ear. "Besides, I thought the whole point was to make a statement." "It is." Adrian's hand slid higher up her thigh, his touch deliberate. "But that doesn't mean I have to like sharing the sight of you with anyone else." "You're not sharing me. You're showing me off." Kira bit his earlobe gently. "There's a difference." Adrian groaned, his hand tightening on her thigh. "You're going to be the death of me." "Impossible. You're already dead." "Then you're going to be the death of my sanity." He pulled back to look at her, his eyes serious despite the heat in them. "Are you ready for this? Once we walk in there together, there's no taking it back. Every vampire in the city will know you're mine. And they'll report it to the council." "Good." Kira's voice was steady. "Let them report it. Let them see that we're not hiding. That we're not ashamed. That we're not going to apologize for what we are to each other." Adrian's expression softened with something that looked like awe. "How did I get so lucky?" "You didn't. You got cursed with a stubborn dragon who refuses to let ancient politics dictate her love life." "Best curse I've ever had." He kissed her deeply, his hand sliding into her hair, careful not to disturb the elegant twist. When he pulled back, his eyes were blazing. "Let's go show them what a mated pair looks like." The car pulled up to a building in the warehouse district—all exposed brick and industrial chic on the outside, but Kira could feel the supernatural energy radiating from within. This was Obsidian. Adrian's domain. The door opened, and Adrian stepped out first, then turned to offer Kira his hand. She took it, letting him help her from the car with old-world courtesy that somehow made her feel both cherished and claimed. The entrance was guarded by two massive vampires who bowed their heads as Adrian approached. "My lord," one of them said, then his eyes widened slightly as he saw Kira. "And... my lady." The hesitation was telling. They knew what she was. Knew what this meant. "Open the doors," Adrian commanded. "And make sure everyone knows we're here." "Yes, my lord." The heavy doors swung open, and music poured out—something dark and sensual with a driving beat. Adrian's hand settled on Kira's lower back, possessive and warm, as he guided her inside. The interior of Obsidian was stunning. Exposed brick walls, dim lighting from chandeliers that looked like they belonged in a gothic cathedral, plush velvet seating in deep reds and blacks. The main floor was a dance area where bodies moved together in ways that were more sensual than strictly dancing. Private booths lined the walls, and a grand staircase led up to what Kira assumed were the VIP areas. But it was the crowd that made her breath catch. Vampires. Dozens of them. Maybe hundreds. All beautiful, all dangerous, all turning to look as Adrian entered with Kira on his arm. The whispers started immediately. "Is that—" "The dragon—" "He brought her here—" "She's wearing his scent—" "The bond—" Adrian's hand pressed more firmly against her back, steadying her. Through the bond, she felt his determination, his pride, his absolute certainty that this was right. "Chin up, my queen," he murmured in her ear. "Let them see you." Kira lifted her chin, meeting the stares with the same confidence she used in boardrooms. She was a dragon. An apex predator. She didn't cower before anyone. Adrian led her through the crowd, and it parted before them like water. Vampires stepped back, their eyes wide, their expressions ranging from shock to fascination to outright hostility. They reached the bar, and Adrian ordered them both drinks—blood wine for him, something dark and potent for her. As they waited, a female vampire approached. She was stunning—pale skin, dark hair, curves poured into a red dress that left little to the imagination. And her eyes were fixed on Adrian with a hunger that had nothing to do with blood. "Adrian," she purred, completely ignoring Kira. "It's been too long. I was hoping you'd come by my chambers tonight." Adrian's expression didn't change, but Kira felt his irritation through the bond. "Selene. I'm occupied." "I can see that." Selene's eyes finally flicked to Kira, dismissive and cold. "But surely you're not serious about this... arrangement. A dragon? Really, Adrian. I thought you had better taste." Kira's dragon stirred, ready to put this vampire in her place. But before she could speak, Adrian moved. His hand left Kira's back and slid around her waist, pulling her flush against his side. Then he turned his head and kissed Kira's neck—right over the marks he'd left when he fed from her. A deliberate, possessive gesture that made Kira's breath catch and her skin heat. "This dragon," Adrian said against Kira's skin, his voice carrying to everyone nearby, "is my mate. My bonded. Mine in every way that matters. And if you ever speak to her with anything less than the respect due to a queen, I'll personally ensure you never speak again." The threat was delivered calmly, almost casually. But the power behind it was unmistakable. Selene's face went pale—paler than usual—and she took a step back. "I... I apologize, my lord. I didn't realize—" "Now you do." Adrian's eyes flashed crimson. "Spread the word. Anyone who disrespects my mate answers to me." Selene fled. The vampires nearby had gone very still, watching with a mixture of fear and fascination. This was Adrian at his most dangerous—not raging, not violent, but absolutely certain of his power and willing to use it. Kira turned in his arms, her hands sliding up his chest. "That was hot," she murmured. Adrian's eyes darkened. "You like watching me threaten people for you?" "I like watching you claim me in front of everyone." Kira's voice dropped to a purr. "I like knowing that every vampire in this room now understands exactly who I belong to." "And who I belong to," Adrian corrected. His hand slid down to cup her ass through the silk dress, bold and possessive. "Because this goes both ways, my queen. I'm just as much yours as you are mine." Kira kissed him then, deep and hungry, not caring that they had an audience. Adrian kissed her back with equal intensity, his hand tightening on her ass, pulling her against him so she could feel exactly how much he wanted her. When they finally broke apart, both breathing hard, the entire club was watching. "Dance with me," Adrian said, his voice rough with desire. He led her to the dance floor, and the crowd parted again. The music shifted to something slower, more sensual, and Adrian pulled Kira against him. They moved together like they'd been doing this for years instead of days. Adrian's hands roamed her body—her back, her hips, her ass—claiming her with every touch. Kira's hands slid into his hair, down his chest, feeling the hard muscle beneath his shirt. "Everyone's watching us," she murmured. "Good." Adrian's mouth found her neck, kissing the marks he'd left. "Let them watch. Let them see what a mated pair looks like. Let them see that I'm not giving you up." "Never," Kira agreed, her nails scraping lightly against his scalp. They danced for three songs, their bodies pressed together, moving in ways that were more foreplay than dancing. Kira could feel Adrian's arousal against her hip, could feel her own desire building with every touch, every kiss, every possessive caress. Finally, Adrian pulled back, his eyes blazing red. "Upstairs. Now. Before I take you right here on this dance floor." Kira's laugh was breathless. "That would certainly make a statement." "The statement I want to make requires privacy." Adrian's hand found hers, lacing their fingers together. "Come with me." He led her up the grand staircase to the second floor, then down a hallway to a door at the very end. He pressed his palm to a scanner, and the door clicked open. The VIP lounge was stunning. Dark wood paneling, plush leather furniture, dim lighting from sconces that cast everything in warm shadows. A full bar lined one wall, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooked the city—though Kira suspected they were one-way glass. But the centerpiece was the massive bed against the far wall, covered in black silk sheets. "You have a bed in your VIP lounge?" Kira asked, amused. "I have beds in several of my VIP lounges." Adrian closed and locked the door behind them. "Vampires have... needs. And sometimes those needs can't wait until we get home." "Convenient." "Very." Adrian moved toward her with predatory grace. "And right now, I need you so badly I can barely think straight." Kira backed up slowly, letting him stalk her. "What do you need, Adrian?" "Everything." He caught her, his hands gripping her hips. "I need to taste you. Touch you. f**k you until you scream my name. Mark you so thoroughly that every supernatural being in this city knows you're mine." "Then take me." Kira's voice was a challenge. "Show me what a vampire king does to his dragon queen." Adrian's control snapped. He kissed her fiercely, his hands already working at the zipper of her dress. The silk pooled at her feet, leaving her in nothing but black lace panties and heels. Adrian's eyes raked over her body, possessive and hungry. "f*****g perfect," he breathed. Then he was on her, his mouth claiming hers while his hands explored every inch of exposed skin. Kira gasped into the kiss, her own hands working at his shirt buttons, desperate to feel his skin against hers. They stumbled toward the bed, shedding clothes as they went. By the time they reached it, Adrian was shirtless and Kira's panties were torn—literally torn by his impatient hands. Adrian pushed her onto the bed, and Kira went willingly, spreading her legs in invitation. Adrian's eyes flashed crimson as he looked at her—laid out for him, ready for him, his. "Mine," he growled. "Yours," Kira agreed. "Now prove it." Adrian descended on her like a storm. His mouth found her breast, sucking hard enough to make her arch off the bed. His hand slid between her thighs, finding her already wet and ready. "So f*****g wet for me," he murmured against her skin. "Always so ready." "Only for you," Kira gasped as his fingers slid inside her. "Only ever for you." Adrian worked her with his fingers, his thumb circling her c**t while his mouth moved from one breast to the other. Kira's hands fisted in his hair, holding him to her, her hips rocking against his hand. "Adrian," she moaned. "Please—" "Please what?" His voice was dark with desire. "Tell me what you need, my queen." "You. Inside me. Now." Adrian pulled back just long enough to shed his pants, and then he was covering her body with his, the cool press of his skin against her heated flesh making her shiver. He positioned himself at her entrance, his eyes locked on hers. "Look at me," he commanded. "I want to see your eyes when I claim you." Kira met his gaze, her own eyes already starting to glow with dragon fire. "Then claim me." Adrian thrust into her in one smooth motion, filling her completely. Kira cried out, her back arching, her nails digging into his shoulders. "f**k," Adrian groaned. "You feel incredible. So tight. So perfect." He started to move, his thrusts deep and powerful, each one hitting that spot inside her that made her see stars. Kira wrapped her legs around his waist, pulling him deeper, meeting him thrust for thrust. "Harder," she demanded. "I'm not fragile, Adrian. I'm a dragon. I can take everything you have." Adrian's eyes blazed. "You want harder? You want me to f**k you like the apex predator I am?" "Yes." Adrian pulled out and flipped her over in one smooth motion, pulling her hips up so she was on her hands and knees. Then he slammed back into her from behind, the new angle making them both groan. "Like this?" he growled, his hands gripping her hips hard enough to bruise. "Is this what you want?" "Yes!" Kira's voice was almost a scream. "God, yes!" Adrian f****d her hard and fast, his supernatural strength allowing him to maintain a pace that would have been impossible for a human. Kira met him thrust for thrust, her own dragon strength matching his vampire power. Her nails lengthened into claws, digging into the silk sheets. Her skin began to glow faintly with inner fire, heat radiating from her in waves. Her eyes blazed gold, fully dragon now. "That's it," Adrian groaned. "Let me see your dragon. Let me see all of you." Kira's dragon roared to the surface, and suddenly her skin felt too tight, her body too small to contain the power surging through her. Scales flickered across her shoulders and down her spine—not a full transformation, but enough to show her true nature. Adrian's hand traced the scales reverently, even as he continued to thrust into her. "Beautiful," he breathed. "So f*****g beautiful." Then his hand slid up to her neck, and Kira knew what he wanted. What they both needed. "Do it," she gasped. "Feed from me. Complete the bond." Adrian's fangs extended, and he leaned down, his chest pressing against her back as his mouth found the junction of her neck and shoulder. He bit down at the same moment he thrust deep, and Kira screamed. The sensation was overwhelming—pleasure and pain and something beyond both. She could feel Adrian drinking from her, could feel the bond between them flaring to life, stronger than ever. His pleasure mixed with hers, his desire feeding her own, until she couldn't tell where she ended and he began. "Adrian!" Her voice was raw, desperate. "I'm going to—" "Come for me," he commanded against her neck. "Come while I'm inside you, while I'm feeding from you. Let me feel it through the bond." Kira shattered. Her o****m hit her like a tidal wave, crashing through her with such intensity that her dragon fire flared, actual flames licking across her skin without burning. She felt Adrian's own c****x through the bond, felt him spilling inside her as he drank deeply from her throat. They collapsed together onto the bed, both shaking, both overwhelmed by the intensity of what they'd just shared. Adrian's fangs retracted, and he licked the wound on her neck, sealing it with his vampire magic. "Holy f**k," Kira breathed when she could finally speak. "Agreed." Adrian rolled them onto their sides, pulling her back against his chest, his arms wrapped around her. "That was..." "Intense." "Transcendent." Adrian kissed her shoulder, right over the scales that were slowly fading back into smooth skin. "Every time we do this, the bond gets stronger. I can feel you even more clearly now." "I can feel you too." Kira turned in his arms to face him. "Your satisfaction. Your possessiveness. Your love." "Always love." Adrian cupped her face. "I love you, Kira. More than I thought possible. More than I've ever loved anyone in three centuries." "I love you too." Kira kissed him softly. "Even though you're a possessive, territorial vampire who just f****d me in front of half the supernatural community." "We were behind closed doors for the actual f*****g," Adrian pointed out. "But they all know what we're doing up here." "Good." Adrian's hand slid down to her hip, possessive even now. "That was the point. I wanted them to see us together. Wanted them to understand that you're not just some fling or temporary distraction. You're my mate. My queen. And anyone who has a problem with that can take it up with me." "You're going to start a war," Kira said, but there was no heat in it. "Maybe." Adrian's expression turned serious. "But it's a war worth fighting. Because you're worth fighting for. We're worth fighting for." Kira's throat tightened with emotion. "The councils are going to lose their minds." "Let them." Adrian pulled her closer. "We've made our statement tonight. We're not hiding. We're not ashamed. We're mated, bonded, and completely committed to each other. And if they want to tear us apart, they're going to have to go through both of us." "Together," Kira said. "Always together." Adrian kissed her forehead. "We should probably go back downstairs eventually. Make another appearance. Show them we're still standing." "In a minute." Kira snuggled closer, savoring the feel of his cool skin against hers. "I just want to stay like this for a little while longer." "As long as you want, my queen." They lay together in the dim light of the VIP lounge, wrapped around each other, the bond humming contentedly between them. Outside, the supernatural world was probably already buzzing with news of what they'd done. The vampire king and the dragon queen, publicly mated, defying centuries of tradition and law. But in this moment, none of that mattered. All that mattered was this—the two of them, together, choosing each other despite the consequences. And that was worth any battle. Any sacrifice. Any risk. Eventually, they dressed and returned downstairs. The crowd parted for them again, but this time the whispers were different. Respectful. Awed. Maybe a little afraid. Adrian kept his hand on Kira's back as they moved through the club, stopping to speak with various vampires, introducing Kira formally as his mate. Each time, the vampires bowed their heads in acknowledgment, accepting what Adrian was telling them. This was real. This was permanent. This was happening. By the time they left Obsidian hours later, every supernatural being in the city would know. The vampire king had claimed his dragon queen. And they weren't backing down. The war was coming. But they were ready.
