Chapter IX Altior Omicron -31-Par was an ancient village, built at the foot of the Long Hills, a range of hills that were very fertile and grew magnificent vines of which, the finest wine in the region was made. It was famous for the grazing of sheep and goats too, and extended as far south as the Milites mountains.
The village had a picturesque central square, decorated with a beautiful fountain, at the centre of which was a statue of a granite Aries, a symbol of the fertility of the land. The buildings that surrounded it were built of stone, and within the roofs were crenelations to protect archers and cross bowmen, they were guarding the only access route to the rest of the town. It was not a fortified town and the number of guards on duty, was sufficient to guarantee minimum security
