Chapter V Siege -7-The army of Campo Libero was lined up in front of the north gate and with it, was a part of the mercenary army, armed with black sabres and small rectangular black iron shields, strapped to their arms; they wore a uniform of black cloth and reinforced leather armour that protected their shoulders and chest down to the navel. They were robust, well-trained soldiers.
