Chapter VII The Carrousel of Hombros -22-At first light, the great tournament arena was packed with people. It was an immense structure that held some thirty thousand spectators. The imposing structure was located southeast of the city. The grandstands were built on eight floors, the top floor was about fifty metres above the ground and the playing field was still clearly visible; built of stone and iron grids, it guaranteed a structural solidity that was the envy of all known kingdoms. The circularity of its architecture and the system of arches that supported each floor, allowed the building a space yo have incredible acoustics, and any the spectators could crisply hear the words of the herald and the master of ceremonies, who were about to present the candidates for the carrousel.
