Sadim’s indictment became fuel for the tabloids. His story had all of the ingredients of a major media event; sin in high places, a wealthy foreigner preying on an innocent American girl, a beautiful victim, and rumors of connections to celebrities and high government officials.
Diplomatic relations were strained when his home country refused to extradite him, and he remains a free man today. Even freezing his assets in the U.S. failed to damage his ever increasing holdings. He only suffered a change in social status, from fame to notoriety.
