I stood outside the lecture hall long after the last bell rang, the chill of late afternoon creeping under my sleeves. I could still hear Zane’s voice in my head, sharp and venom-laced: “Soon I’ll kick Enzo out of the pack. Nobody’s going to save you from me.” The words had sunk their claws into my spine, poisoning every breath I took.
