Amelia’s POV
Tom’s words kept on echoing in my mind, causing my heart to pound non stop inside my chest. I found myself struggling to grasp my present reality.
I stared at him, searching for a hint— Any single hint of the man I loved so much. A stranger, That was all I could see. He was so distant and cold.
“Tom, You can't do this to me. No, You can't.” I wailed, gulping down my remaining words; Trying to keep the tears at bay.
Tom stood still and silent. His eyes were fixed on mine and they seemed like they were never going to leave. It was as though he had already made up his mind and there was no room for any sort of discussion. As though there wasn't even a space left for me in his heart.
I was hurt; But he didn't seem to care about the turmoil in my eyes and the agony my voice held.
My hands got weak as I tried to hold the envelop firmly; Once again, my vision became blurry with unshed streams of tears. In as much as my eyes fell heavy with tears, I refused to let them roll down my cheeks.
He wanted so badly; And I noticed. The pleasure of seeing me cry. But I denied him that pleasure.
Bitterness and hate swelled in me; Mingling with heartbreak and betrayal. I was so weak but I couldn't show it all to him.
“Tom, why are you doing this to me? We made a vow; To stand by each other. You promised we would both have a baby, Our baby. So what is the meaning of this?” I choked out, waving the envelope at him.
The storm of emotions was overwhelming, continuously tearing through me as I found it hard to breathe properly.
“Tom, you're not saying nothing? How could you do this to me?” I said, gritting my teeth.
As though I had gathered the energy I lost; I stood tall with my fists clenched at my sides. The urge to break something— Anything at all, to release the raw anger and hate.
I moved towards him, desperate for logical answers; Desperate for explanations; Desperate for answers, an apology; soothing words at least. But I was interrupted by a sound.
I froze only to watch the door of our house open up slowly.
Speaking of the devil— There she was; standing in the door way like she had already been made the owner of the house.
Toria; The woman who's now carrying my husbands child, the b***h who had cunningly penetrated the space I had once thought was mine and mine alone not to share.
Toria stood there, proud, eyes glowing with egotism. I expected her to be concerned about my presence and leave but she seemed unaffected. A cube of apology was no where near her table. She must have had this day all planned out.
I couldn't tame down my rage anymore, “Witch, Why are you here?” I asked, voice shaky with a mixture of doubt and hate. What my eyes were dwelling on had no atom of sense.
Toria, unaffected; smirked. Resting her arms on each other, over her chest.
“I’m here already and I am here to stay.” She announced, mockery evident in her voice.
Her egoistic nature intensified the mixture of anger and hate I had for her, causing my blood to boil.
“Tom here and I are building our family now. As you can see, our baby is fast growing inside me, so… Daddy’s already making plans for us.”
My heart pounded and her words blurred. I couldn't believe my reality, My marriage; how could this be happening to me?
“Toria, you've made a mistake. You can't be serious please.” I wheezed; Taking a step towards her with my eyes widened in disbelief.
“Toria, You are stealing my man; you're stealing my home, my happiness.” I pointed out with my fingers shaking uncontrollablly.
Toria stepped forward; putting on a cruel smile. “Did I steal anything? Amelia, what’s not yours isn't yours. Tom and I are making plans for our new family.” she shamelessly announced to my face.
“We had to keep it real. You can't give Tom a child; Or can you?”
Her words were like a two edged sharp knife, traveled straight to my heart, puncturing it causing me more pain. My blood boiled to its highest boiling point; I couldn't take it anymore, I couldn't just stand there and watch her mock me.
I was loosing it all. The dreams I held on to— The family we planned on building together.
I was unwilling to accept that my life was being torn apart by the b***h who was standing in front of me. I was desperate to stop the doom my life was heading too.
Without blinking twice, I held Toria, reaching up to get hair and pulling the strands. The inner urge to hurt her was satisfyed.
Before I could do anything further, Tom gripped my shoulders firmly; so strong and ruthless, yanking me away from Toria. Knocked out by the force, I stumbled; my skin scraping against the rough wall.
“What the hell is wrong with you? Have you lost it Amelia?” Tom screamed, his voice filled with a mixture of anger and frustration. All fingers pointed at me as though I'd done anything wrong.
Panic swelled in me as I gasped for breathe. “Tom, You can't do this to me; You can't just throw me out!”
With his fierce icy eyes, He stepped away from me.
“This is nothing compared to what i’ll do to you if anything happens to our baby.” He barked, his voice low but filled with rage.
My heart shattered into pieces as his words hit me like a fist thrown to my face; He was colder than I ever imagined him.
“You really think that I would hurt the baby, don't you?” I wailed, my voiced trembling expressing what I feeling on the inside. “I love you so much Tom. I've always been supportive to you Tom!”
Despite all I said, his gaze never ceases to be hardened. He stared at me as though I was a liability— something he seemed to be tired of handling.
“Amelia, I don’t want you in my life anymore.”Tom announced, “Get out now, Amelia!”
My mind screamed doubt; I couldn't breathe properly. The man asking me to get out now is the man I loved so much. And now, after everything, this is how I'm being treated. Sent out of the home we both built.
The tears I fought so hard to hold in rolled down my cheeks. I couldn't hold it back in anymore; wiping them off with the aid of palm, I sniveled. Tom had obviously made his decision. I've lost him.
With my heart racing; I stood there trembling. Wishing this was all a dream and someone would wake me up. The weight of the betrayal was crushing me, leaving me gasping for breathe.
The air around felt heavy and thick with Toms unwavering cold gaze; He still had his eyes locked on mine, giving out an unsettling rift. It felt as though something had just suddenly snapped on the inside of me.
I stood firm, no more was I going to let him push me away with out listening to me, he needed to know how deep and hurt the wound in my heart was. I wasn't ready to go down—Not without a fight.
I took a shaky yet firm step towards him. A surge of resilience and hate coarse through me; It was more intense than I’d ever felt before. No more pleading, no more tears. There was no need pretending everything was fine when it was far from it.
“So this is what you want Tom? This is what makes you happy?” I asked; maintaining eye contact with him.
My words pierced through the thick silence between us, raw and straightforward.
“This is your plan, Tom; right? To promise me the world and make me stick with you and then you dump me for her.” I gestured towards Toria, standing still by the doorway, watching keenly with smug expression like a sharp knife twisting deeper and deeper.
“Trust me Tom; You will regret this. I swear on my life. I swear I'll make you pay.”
My words hung on the air, thick and heavy with heartbreak and hurt that'd been assembling.
All of a sudden; I ceased crying, I ceased pleading for explanations. I was done with all of that s**t.
But then; just as I was about to leave, Tom did something no one would ever believe he would do.
