Smoke clawed at the ceiling like it had teeth. Alina’s ears rang. Her body hit the floor hard, shoulder first, skin burning from the blast. Shards of glass buried into her side, but none of it compared to the scream rising in her throat. “NICHOLAS!” She coughed through the smoke, crawling toward the scorched hotel door. Flames licked the carpet, and the sprinklers hadn’t activated. Her sister—her dead, impossible twin—was nowhere to be seen. “Nicholas, answer me!” He groaned. She turned.
