The Rejected Mate

CHAPTER TEN

After some weeks, I'd decided to let this new development be. My mother protected me from harm by sealing my powers at the cost of her life and I wouldn't let her sacrifice go to waste. So I'd decided to continue living my life as I had been.

“ Let me help you with that,” Fiona said, collecting the tray i was holding as I was attending to treat one of the patient.

I smiled at her as I watched her attended to the patient in my place. Looking around, I see everyone busy with one or two things and I didn't even see any thing that I can do. If I approached anyone of them to assist them, they will not allow me because they always do not want me to stress myself.

I looked down at my protruding stomach and rubbed it, feeling like it's stopping me from doing what I like doing.

The pack doctor have even told me not to come in again until I deliver my child but I just couldn't sit down in my room and do nothing when everyone was busy with one or two things. Every since I've been born I had never for once seen anyone who will tell me to leave things for them to do for me, but always even giving me their job to add with mine.

The love and support that I have been receiving in this pack was more than I wished and prayed for from the moon goddess.

I turned around and walked to my office, pick up my bag and then headed home as I have nothing else to do and don't even want the head doctor to see me that I have come in today. He will be angry.

I hailed a taxi and then headed to the pack house.

“ Thank you.” I said as I gave the driver his money and got out of his car, heading into the pack house.

I was greeted by many people as I entered and I also return their greetings. But as I entered the Mansion, my heart began to race faster and I also reduce my pace. I really do not want to bump into Alpha Rowan. He had been too overprotective of me lately and I've been feeling kinda uncomfortable with that.

Ever since the encounter with Damon, Alpha Rowan had changed totally. He's always all over me everywhere I go and I'm beginning to suspect something else to that.

And moreover, I need to avoid a witch.

I began to tiptoe up the stairs with my back a little bend and my left hand on my protruding tummy, trying to avoid gathering attention.

“ Honey, am sorry for making you going through this but mommy got to stay out of big trouble.”

I suddenly saw a leg of someone at the top of the stairs. Seeing the feet was of a lady and smile grace my face as I thought it was Maya. But on slowly raising my gaze, it turned out to be someone else and the smile on my face disappear.

It's Betsy. Alpha Rowan childhood friend and also betrothed to him by the elders of the pack after the demise of his mate. I don't know the reasons but she hated me like dirt and thanks to her, my life in the pack house wasn't that great after she arrives here a month ago.

But why exactly is she here? Isn't she supposed to be getting ready for traveling with Alpha Rowan to Netherlands. I heard they are attending some Ascending ceremony and Alpha Rowan is taking her as his partner.

“Look who we have here. It's a pregnant she wolf without a father of her pup.” She said in a mocking tone. “And why exactly are you walking as if you are trying to steal something?” She asked with her arm crossed and I slowly stand straight.

I chucklwd nervously.

“ Hi Betsy.”

I waved at her as I knew that nothing good will come out from provoking her.

“ Actually am just feeling a little crampy and my back hurts so that was why I was walking like that. And what do you mean by stealing something? How would you even think of something like that of me?”

I asked feeling a little hurt.

“ Feeling hurt? Well, only the guilty one will feel like that. When I heard that things are missing in this mansion, I already knew that there will be no other person behind the deed than you and now your action have just confirm my suspicion.”

I'm taken aback by her accusations. I could not believe that she would accuse me of being behind the missing things in the mansion.

“Can you please stop making accusations without any evidence? Did you see me stealing anything? Or you caught me in the act? How could you just open your mouth and be saying things that are not true?!”

I fire back but it only anger her and I could see her already flaring up in rage.

She scoffed,

“Are you talking back at me right now? How dare you? I can't believe a lowly omega don't even know her place all because she was given a little title in the pack!”

My hand tightned on my bag as she began her insult. This wasn't the fisrt time she would do this. As she continues ranting, I could see the maids gathering and watching while I lowered my head in embarrassment as she reminded me of my place and my origin.

“ Anita,”

I heard mother voice and I slowly turned around with teary eyes. I looked at her and she quickly climbed up the stairs to where I am .

“ Are you okay?” She asked and I nodded, clearly not okay

Turning to Betsy,

“ Am very sorry for what my daughter had done. Please forgive her.”

“ Daughter? Laura, how could you be acknowledging a thief without an origin as your daughter, don't you even feel embarrassed or the death of your daughter had made you lose your senses?”

“ What?!”

Everyone gasp as they could not believe she could say such to her when they all knew how her daughter had died.

I could not believe she could say such and my anger flares up as I had reached my limit but as I wanted to talk, I heard someone else's voice.

“ Betsy!”

It was Maya who had also heard what she said. Maya appeared behind her and Betsy began to feel uneasy as it was obvious that she was scared of her.

Maya was actually Beta Louis's mate and Alpha Rowan's cousin. She never used to brag about it and I even found out mistakenly not long ago.

She walked closer to her, looking at her in anger and Betsy looked away in fear

“ Apologise to her right now!”

She said in a commanding voice.
