“Do you miss the sea?” “I do,” said Danica. “To tell the truth, I miss the solitude. I’d sit for hours on those hills, looking out to sea.” “Then you’re in luck.” “I am?” “Yes, once that tower’s built, you’ll have nothing to do but stand watch and look out to sea.” Danica laughed, a smile crossing her lips. “I suppose that’s true, I hadn’t thought of it that way.” Charlaine rose, brushing the sand from her legs. “I think it’s time we got back to work, don’t you?” She held out her hand and pulled Danica to her feet. “Come on then, let’s get the others out of the surf and back up this cliff.” It took some coaxing, but the small party was soon making its way back up the trail.
