“I’ll need to find another smith,” said Charlaine. “Preferably, a particularly expensive one.”
“Why expensive?” asked Cordelia.
“They’ll earn more on their finished weapons and therefore be more likely to be particular with their goods.”
“I don’t understand.”
“I do,” offered Danica. “The more particular they are, the more likely they’ll cast off something that’s not good enough.”
“Precisely,” said Charlaine. “Now, where do we find the best smiths?”
“Likely in the Dwarven quarter,” suggested Cordelia.
“Perfect,” said Charlaine. “That will give me a chance to use my Dwarvish.”
“You speak their language?”
“A little. We had a Dwarf in our guild back home.”
“How much do you speak?” asked Danica.
“Only a handful of words, really,” said Charlaine. “Well, mostly curses, to be honest.”
