"She didn't call to check up on me for some days even when I was admitted unlike her. ThankGod you were just right in time at the office when I had collapsed. I'm sorry if I got you scared, that day, I'm usually not like that."
"Naa. It's okay." Susan waves her hand of the talk. "I could see it in your eyes that you were already pissed. We all have our bad days."
"I guess so too." Xander continues "so I tried reaching out to her several times but she didn't pick up and just when she did, a man spoke furiously, demanding for a ransom for ketty's release."
"Wow...but why miss Ketty? Susan murmurs
"Same question, that pondered within me up on till now."
"Mm-hmm."
"And just When I got a private investigator with the idea of setting a minute track chip device attached to the money mixed up with papers, they got away with the money even before we could get to their hide out and still threatened with a bigger ransom over the phone."
"Wow.. that was indeed a smart move. They know their game well enough. They were already conscious of the odds And stakes involved." Susan comments, surprised at the turn of event.
"Ugh! I wish I could get this guys. I will make their lives miserable." Xander exclaims in irritation as he squeezed his face.
Susan smiled sarcastically at Xander, seeing how furious and pained he sounded. She knew that being furious wasn't going to yield any solution. She drudged her brain back and forth, in search of remedy.
Seeing how fleeting seconds turned into minutes. His eyes, squinting at Susan's sudden silence, "Are you still there," Xander asks snapping his fingers at susan.
"Urm..urm..offcourse," she stammers blinking her eyes.
"Mr. Xander, I have an idea," she says, leaning forward in her chair.
He looks up at her, surprised. "Sure, what's on your mind?"
"Why don't we gather intelligence on the kidnappers by infiltrating their illegal business? We could pose as customers and gather information that way."
Xander raises an eyebrow, intrigued by the suggestion. "That's a bold idea. But do you really think it's possible? These kidnappers are dangerous criminals, after all."
"I understand that it's risky, sir," Susan replys. "But I truly believe that it's worth a try. If we succeed, we could gather valuable information that could help us not just rescue Ketty, but also bring the kidnappers to justice."
"You're right."
Xander responds, impressed by her cool and level-headed response, knowing that he could count on her to handle the situation with Ketty. "Thanks for the idea, but I'll still need to sleep over it. Atleast not to mess this up."
"Sure. I guess it's time to run along." Susan smiles as she strolls out.
Few minutes later..
Xander sits at his desk, staring blankly at the computer screen in front of him. Trying to put his finger on it, but something about Susan's demeanor that intrigued him. Was it her confidence? Her willingness to take risks? Or was it something else?
Xander couldn't stop thinking about her as he tidies his desk, to retire back home. He finds himself replaying their conversation in his head, trying to figure out what it was. Nevertheless in as much as she sounds convincing and confident, he knows if it must work, he has to put his trust in Susan and her plan.
" Do I really want to do this?" Xander pinched his chin, stepping out of the office.
.....
Walking through the door of his room, Xander let out a sigh of exhaustion."What a long day." He stretches his arms wide, approaching his wardrobe. The day had been long and grueling, and all he wanted to do was take a hot bath and relax. But as he heads to the bathroom, his phone suddenly beeps.
Ping! Ping!
He gets his phone from his pocket. Surprisingly, the message was from an unknown number, and reading. "TikTak! TikTak!, You've got limited time, Mr billionaire."
"Ugh!" His jaws groaning, his heart pounding. He picks up his phone immediately and dails Susan's number. "Alright, Susan, "he says "Let's give it a shot. But we need to be extremely careful. These kidnappers are dangerous criminals, and we can't afford to make any mistakes."
"Okay sir, I understand. I'll do whatever needs to be done to make this plan a success."
Breathes of relief runs down his chest, hearing Susan's voice and how determined she sounded. "Thanks Susan. I really appreciate your efforts."
"It's nothing sir." She smiles with a short laugh. "My privilege sir."
"Let me get to work sir, she continues, "I think I wil be needing the phone number used in reaching out to you."
She immediately picks up her laptop and logs into the internet, searching for the information, linked to the phone number. After few minutes of thorough search, an information matches. Susan chats the man for the job, asking for a job to be done immediately. She didn't mind the amount it will cost.
Still waiting for a feedback, a message pops up after few minutes of no response to the chat, "Alright. But we'll be working with an upfront payment first and the rest later."
"No, meeting before payment." She insists while chatting. She refused, insisting for a scheduled meeting first before she gives out any money to someone she haven't met. They immediately agreed with a YES, putting a location, time and day of the meeting.
Susan exhales, "sir, it's done."
"Done?!"
"Yes Boss." Susan mutters. "They just dropped the details of their location and time."
"You're kidding right?" Xander exclaims, overwhelmed in joy.
"I kid you not boss."
"You're indeed a genius!!"Xander claps his hands "Wow...That was indeed fast."
"You can say that again." Both laughing out loud
"Yeah... You're right sir. Now we've got the location of the kidnappers' hideout, we need to start gathering intelligence on their routines. We should also study the layout of the building and see if there are any weak points we can exploit, what do you think about that?"
"Good idea.!" Xander snaps his finger to the air. "We should also establish a way to keep in contact with our allies. That way, if things go south, we can call for backup."
"Sounds like a plan. We need to be prepared for anything when we infiltrate that hideout." Susan comments.
"Absolutely. We have to bring Ketty back home safely. Let's do this."
