(Three days after ketty's rescue)
A light knock on Susan's door. The door handle moves down indicating an entrance. "Thank you so much. I mean, I didn't think confiding in a total stranger would be of any help." Xander says as he strolls in slow pace into her office.
"That was nothing. Anything for you sir." She giggle and roll her eyes back to her computer.
Just then Xander walks even more closer. His fingers tapping her desk, simultaneously, looking subtly at her. "We both know you didn't just do this for charity. What's the catch? Young lady!"
"Sorry I didn't get you properly?" Susan asks with looks of astonishment.
"Don't be sily, you heard me clearly."
Hearing this, she chuckles blinking her eyes. "Are you for real?"
Her jaws groaning as she stares at Xander in irritation. She couldn't believe what she just heard. Her head hungs backward. Is my mind playing tricks on me right now? she thought.
"I did hear you, but not sure if that was for me. If you don't mind sir, with all due respect, i would like to go back to work". She mutters politely fixing her eyes back to her laptop in fury.
Just as she typed in fast pace, a push on the door. "Hey...Susi!" Ava calls out, excited to catch up with her friend and colleague. Stepping into Susan's office, she bumps into Xander awkwardly standing close to Susan. Looking like she just interupted a session, "Ooh! So sorry...'ll be back in a GIFI." She tossed a finger continuously anticlockwise, muttering in a low tone whilst she made a swift U-turn but was stopped even before she step a foot out.
"It's okay, come in " Susan cuts in with a mugged smile. "Besides, Mr Xander was just on his way out."
To Ava, it didn't look like a friendly meeting but what can she do? She takes a deep breath, trying to come to terms with what ever she just saw. "Good day sir." She stands nervously for a moment and then moved to one end, forward in Susan's direction.
"Good day Ava." He offers a plastic smile, and slammed the door behind him.
As soon as he let himself out, Ava drags a sit to her ass, tapping her fingers on the desk with fleeting looks of questions written all over her face, ready for the full gist. "Is there something someone isn't telling me?"
"Something like what?" Susan tosses a braid over her shoulders." As you can see, he only came to commend me in regards to Madam ketty's rescue."
Looking at Susan with a sarcastic teasing smile "Commend!... I see! But he could've just called you over to his office as well, rather than breeze into your space as early as this. Come on girl, I thought you were smarter than this?"
"Smart Indeed. Please indulge me." Susan sighs, raising a chin higher than the other. Interested in Ava's so called lecture.
At this point, Ava could tell that Susan knows little or nothing about Mr Xander. She wished he would atleast for once give her a glimpse of attention but regardles of what and how she brought herself to be noticed by him, he didn't. "Girrrrl! Grab your chances while it last. I bet you don't wanna loose out on this." She winks across to Susan.
"Mm-hmm.. mtchewww.." Susan sighs and nods. " What a catch! I know, I might be relationship deficient right now, but not desperate for one either, especially not with a rude Boss at that."
Seeing the way Ava talked about Mr Xander, she could tell that it was unusual of him to visit his staffs workspace as early as he did when it didn't concern work or more work. But that was less or non of Susan's concern. Besides, it was his choice as the CEO to walk in on her as early as he did. She thought as everyone is entitled to their opinion.
"Not just any catch, girl... but one with the kudi." Ava snapped her fingers continuously. She always referred kudi as the nickname for real money or large pockets.
Not too surprised at the way Ava fantasized about money, after all, she always praised money as the essence of her existence, as she always made it clear that she had no business with broke, cashless guys. "It's the money for you, girl... not for me."
"It's the M–O–N–E–Y for us all." Ava laughs out loud.
"See you later in the day" –she adjusts her seat backwards– "since someone is not going to spill the truth that she's crushing on her Boss."
"Wow...okay." Susan chuckles, clapping her hands. "I think you really should go back to your office."
"Hahahaha! Hahahaha!" Both laughing as Ava stands up, moving to he door. "The truth they say, sometimes is bitter." She howled aloud as they both hailed see you soon whilst she shots the door on her way out.
Susan returns her sight back to her computer, staring at the designs on her desktop background, trying to respond to emails but all she could see was a playback recall of Mr Xander's absurd annoying question. The feeling of anger and frustration wash over her. She sits there, fuming. "Why." She exclaims, wondering why he thought that way about her. How dare he question my integrity like that? All I did was nothing but help save his sister and he is accusing me of having an ulterior motive? I mean, what even gave him the impression that I will be needing anything coming from his rude self? "Ugh!" She groans out her thought as her thoughts cumbersomed, filled to the peak of her heart. "What an annoying Boss." Every single girl can't be thesame or want something in return for a good deed.
She leaned on her wrist, disheartened. "John was right by the way, minding my business is definitely the best way to excel and stay out of troubles as far as the EMPIRE company is concerned.''
