Retiring back to the office, even when Xander knew that it's already work close hour, but still assured that the office was the only place he can find total tranquility and be more useful to himself.
His jaws groaned. He clenched his palms, feeling so disappointed and disheartened, walking down the dimly lit hallway, his thoughts heavy with the weight of his recent failure. He had been working tirelessly to bring the kidnappers of his sister, Ketty, to justice, but so far he has come up empty handed.
"Have a nice day sir." Susan bursts out of her office.
"Ooh.. Susan, I wasn't expecting you'll still be at the office till now."
"Yeah, I actually had quite alot on my desk." She shots the door. "And needed to be done with it before heading home."
"Ooh..I see, have a nice day then." Xander replies still walking to his office.
She can sense that something wasn't just right seeing Mr Xander all alone back to the office at this time.
'why not I tell him about the paper company now.' she thought as she strolls out of the building.
As he trudges down the hallway, lost in his own thoughts, he suddenly hears a voice calling out to him. "Mr Xander, wait up!" He turns to see Susan, jogging to catch up with him.
Pausing for a moment, he waits for her, a forced smile on his face. "Any problems?"
"Yes sir, it's about the meeting with the paper company."
"Okay...? Come in." He sounds anxiously opening the door. "So what about the paper company?"
"Yeah, the paper company. I couldn't sign the invite," Susan says, her voice low. "I did some research, and I think it's a scam. They're not a real company, just a front for fraud and scamming other businesses."
"What?" He chuckles "And what concrete irrefutable information do you have to that?"
"Alot sir. You might want to take a look at this." She insists.
Xander's expression hardened, he looks at Susan sharply. He can't believe what he just heard. "Are you sure about this? How did you find out?"
Susan explains her research, and presents him with the evidence she had gathered without hesitation. Xander sits back in his chair, staring at the information in front of him. He can't believe that he had almost fallen for it, and it was all because he had let his guard down in his distress of finding his sister.
"This is ridiculous."
"Indeed sir." She tosses a braid over her shoulder. "They actually have scam success stories here and there and when they get a prey, they vanish into thing air."
Xander crosses his arms over his chest, amazed and grateful at the same time. "Wow... Thanks Susan for this information." He thanks Susan for bringing this to his attention. "I'll need to contact the authorities to investigate this further."
"I guess it's getting late already, you should get going." Xander continues, whilst his eyes moves back and forth unrelaxed.
She can tell from his tone and demeanor that something was off, "You seem troubled sir, is everything okay?"
He sighs heavily, "Nothing though, just a rough few days, I've hit a dead end in a case I'm working on. I can't seem to catch a break."
She senses that this is something personal, "I'm sorry to hear that. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help sir."
Xander shakes his head, "Thanks, but I think it's something I have to work out on my own."
Still pissed that his efforts to get Ketty out of he hands of those scum bags couldn't avail.Confiding in anyone is the least on his mind, talk more of when that person happens to be his newly employed company staff which he even knows little or nothing about.. 'How is she going to see me, if I tell her that my own Twin sister was kidn*pped and unfortunately I've not being able to rescue her. A weakling?' he thought.
"It's okay if you don't want to talk about it." She stares directly into his eyes with a face of concern. "I mean, sometimes we all find ourselves in that position, were we don't feel like talking to anyone."
Xander's heart softens at Susan's persistence. Seeing how concerned, she is and ready to help out with what ever is bothering him, even when she had no reason to be concerned. Unlike Xander, this feeling rose far from office concern.
Taking for eternity for Xander to spill, she stands up."I'm a good listener sir, whenever you fill like sharing.See you tomorrow sir." moving towards the door. Just then, he looked up at her, desperately searching for a solution, knowing that Susan might be able to help with the situation, even before she stepped a foot outside he chipps in, "Okay fine! how would you handle a case of k********g, if it were your loved one who was being taken?"
"Kidnap?" She utters in shock, slowly setting her hand bag down on the chair.
"Mm-hmm." She clears her throat. "I think, reaching out to the kidnappers, to know what they really want and coming to terms and conditions of the negotiation would be the best step to take while I involve the police or even a secret investigator."
Xander sighs and closes his eyes, knowing that he had already messed that option up some minutes ago. "And what if that doesn't work out?" He interupts.
"Never say never untill you've given it a try sir." She says, nodding and smiling.
"It can't work because I just messed up my chances with that option some hours ago."
Susans shoulders slumped. Her mouth open, looking at Mr Xander in perplexity. "No way! You're kidding right?"
She asked anxiously, unsure if it was still a mere question or something more to it. She stares into his eyes, waiting to hear that he's just kidding but unfortunately, his eyes gleamed with a hint of coldness. "Ketty has being kidnapped."
Susan's jaw drops "Ketty?! kidn*pped? When?"
