Susan looks at Ava with a pain in her heart. Yes, she knows that Ava without telling her is into the boss, but that has nothing to do with her. Now that she is aware how Ava sees her although she refused Mr Xander their boss severally because of her.
She turns around, standing right at the door as she replies to Ava's claims. "No, I don't. I dress professionally and I dress for myself, not for anyone else." She angrily says out.
Just then, before Susan steps out of the office, "I don't want to hear it. Get out of my office. We can never be the same." Ava says to her as she tries to cover up for what she said without thinking.
"Okay, Ava. But just remember that I'm only trying to help you. I'll see you around." Susan fastly walks out of the office, heading to her office very close.
Their discussion was heated. Though Susan's intentions were genuine. She was only trying to make Ava see that dressing like that would not attract a good man, but Ava was too angry to listen.
...
It's the sunny time of the day. Everyone has gone out to the office cafeteria for lunch. Susan seems to be in her office without stepping out. Same goes out for her friend Ava. Just then, Mr Xander steps out of his office, heading to the cafeteria. On crossing her office, he hears a sound. It occurred to him that Susan might still be in her office and something doesn't seem so right. He stops and then knocks on her door, waiting to hear a reply from anyone.
"Who is that? Do come in, please." Susan says politely on hearing the knock on the door and how committed it was.
As the door opens, comes Mr Xander, as he puts his hands on the air as a gesture of what's up. He folds his hand to get her response. Susan puts out a fake smile. She's not in a right mood to go for lunch, but since it took him coming personally, she won't hurt him by saying no. "Alright, sir. Let's go." She walks out with him, heading for lunch.
As they place their order and sit down, having lunch. Mr Xander isn't happy about how down her attitude is. He wants to help but isn't sure of what the case may be, so he asks as he says in a lovely voice.
"Hey Susan, it's been a while since we last caught up. How have you been?" Xander stares at her.
After a few minutes of silence, she raises her head up. "I've been good, thanks. How about you, sir?"
Xander so impatient, says, "I've been great, thanks for asking."
He spills out as he further says. "Listen... I was wondering if you're free for lunch today so we can go together."
"And, hey. Look, there's a new restaurant in town that will open soon. I've been dying to try out new dishes. Hope you would be there too?" Xander asks.
"Hmmmm." She exhales as she hears him speak, putting up a smile that makes him blush, knowing he made her smile.
"By the way, thanks for following me to lunch. I really love it. Thanks Susan." He mutters with beams of joy.
She chuckles, "Of course, it's my pleasure." She replies him, looking focused on her food.
"Hey. By the way, I wanted to ask you something. Hope you don't mind?”
"What is it, sir?" She replies, asking back in curiosity.
"My birthday is coming up this Saturday, and I'm having a little party at my place. I'd love for you to come." He quickly chimes in with another spoon fool in his mouth.
"Wow! Happy birthday in advance, sir. That sounds like fun! All the workers would be there. So I surely will. Right? What time should that be?" she happily says, playing dumb like she never knew about it already. It would be embarrassing telling him she knew about it already and the special invitation wouldn't make sense at all.
"Mmmm. Everyone will be there, but you are my special guest for that night, alright? Don't forget that." He bluntly utters, making her understand she is a special guest.
"Yes, you asked. The party starts at 6 pm, so after that would be great. Take your time, alright?"
"Haha," she smiles. "Okay, I'll definitely come. Do you need me to bring anything?" Sh asks in curiosity.
"Urmmm... No. Just yourself. I'll take care of everything else.
"Sounds good." She responds, her eyes still staring undistracted at him. "Thanks for inviting me. I'm really looking forward to it. And am sure it's going to be a blast."
"Well, am not a fan of parties but I know how to throw one." He brags to her as they both laugh.
"I'm sure it will be. So, how have you been otherwise?" She asks him.
"Well, I've been pretty busy with work, but things are good. How about you? What have you been up to lately?"
"Myself, I've been good. But I was wondering if I could talk to you about something?" Her voice retards low.
"Sure, Susan. What's on your mind?" He says asking her worried.
"In short, sir, it's about Ava. You know we've had some disagreements lately and I just want to talk to you about how I'm feeling since you asked. Hope you don't mind?" She says in a worried face.
Where could these questions be leading to? Xander thinks whilst his eyes remain fixed on hers. "Yeah, of course, Susan. I'm always here to listen. What's been going on between you two? Though I see, I can't really conclude."
"It's just that Ava has been really upset with me lately, and I'm not sure why. We've always been such good friends, but now it feels like she's pushing me away." She mentions, and then she chuckles so hard.
Xander rushes closer to her and pats her on the back. Just then, Ava enters the cafeteria and sights them.
