Ava knows so well that indecent dressing is a no-no in the office, but her boss has left her with no choice. She didn't even think twice about losing her job. All she thinks right now is how to get Mr Xander her boss, to love her. Walking into the office with confidence was a stand for her not to care what her colleagues will say. In her God dam mind, indecent dressing, or as she sees it, is sexy dressing is a great reason the fling that occurred with her boss in the past happened in the first place, so this dressing will arise the same feelings.
There Mr Xander fums as Ava walks closer in her short skirt and a revealing top. He can't believe that she is dressed so indecently. And to add to it, she is his secretary. Dressing this way, what lesson is the junior staff to learn from her when she addresses them? Xander in a fuming state without holding back, stands up from his chair, walks away from his desk, moving to the front of the desk and stops her half way as he vents out. "Ava, what the hell are you wearing? Do you realize that this is a professional environment?" He points to her, scanning her from her hair to her feet.
"You must have counted your cause before appearing here in this manner today. You sure know what you are doing and remember where you are, right?" He questions her, staring at her standing there.
She gets down her hands and puts her face downwards in a blushing manner, as though she is being tossed. "Oh, come on Mr Xander. I'm just dressing up a bit. I want to look good to you. As your secretary, I have a reputation to keep and all this while, I have paid little attention to my dressing. Now that I am ready, I will do my best."
In anger, Mr Xander stamps his leg on the floor, instilling fear into Ava. "What? He talks in low key to avoid creating a scene in the office and as her boss, protecting her image in the company is important. "That's a ridiculous thing to say. You can't dress in the office space in this manner. It's inappropriate."
Ava raises her head up and takes a step forward as she response. "I'm sorry, sir, but I disagree. I'm just trying to get your attention. You know I've had feelings for you for a long time now. But you keep avoiding me and it's as if I'm lost in the crowd though standing before you. You know it's the first time you are observing what am wearing. It's a good thing for me." She evilly smiles at him.
In rage, Xander replies as she is still lost in her quest for the past fling, which meant nothing at all to him. "That's not an excuse, Ava. You can't dress like this to get my attention. You're being unprofessional."
"I didn't hire you for this attitude you are putting up." He continues as his jaws groans in fury. "I hired you because you are smart not to let your emotions meddle with your working ability. You can still prove me right, just the way you have done all these years you've worked for me." He says, trying to reason with her.
Ava scoffs and nods. She is not convinced. Her quest is far more important. "But I'm not the only one. Look around. There are other women in the office who dress even more provocative than I do." She shakes her head in disapproval.
Xander sits on the desk, still marveled at Ava's obsession. "That's not the point, Ava. The point is, you're disrespecting yourself and the office by dressing like that. Speaking of those dressing like this, you know how they were laid off. Work and it out as an example to the others not to act otherwise. But here you are," He says with bitterness in his voice.
She still stands on her words with so much confidence seen In her eyes. She mutters, "I'm not disrespecting anyone. I'm just trying to show you I'm interested in you. I've been waiting for you to notice me for a long time. Which you did today."
Just then, Mr Xander stops talking for a while. 'All this while Ava hasn't been like this. Why suddenly?' he thinks. He looks at her with curiosity filled in his eyes. Ava senses he is thinking about something. Has he been caught at her game? Just then, he questions her. "Hmmm." He exclaims. "I want to ask you a question, Ava. All this while you weren't like this, but suddenly you are changed. Tell me now. Who is the instigator for this your new behaviour?' he asks.
Ava shakes up, not to act guilty and be caught, she carefully answers. "No, sir. No one is instigating me. I don't want to lose you to another person, that's why."
He smiles. "Ava, if that's so, this is not the way to get my attention. You should focus on your work and let your skills speak for themselves." He stands up, heading back to his sit.
Ava, in discouragement, says in a low voice. "But sir, I want you to notice me as a woman, not just as a worker. Can't you see that?"
"Ava, you're a valuable member of this team." He further advises her. "I appreciate your dedication and hard work. But I cannot condone this kind of behavior in the office."
"I understand, sir. I'm sorry if I offended you. I'll try to dress more appropriately from now on." She says agreeing to what he said not to push him to the edge of taking a rash decision.
As she drops off the file in her hand on the desk, she turns around, heading out. Just then, he mutters up courage and says to her. "Thank you, Ava. I appreciate you are dedicated and I will see you. After all, you are my secretary. Now you can get back to work. You have a lot to do."
On her way out, as she opens the door to leave, there Susan stood with her left hand up to knock on the door.
