"Offcourse, dinner date." Xander responds with his eyes all sterned. "Any problems?"
"Well... Not really a problem... but in my own opinion, I think we'll have to visit the saloon to have you cleaned up and later check into an exquisite suite store for a new pair of suite. Yes, that will be good to go."
"Really? All this–"
"Yes boss." Mr Dum adds, smiling. "You're a public figure and can't afford looking all sweaty sticky and bushy for his first dinner date."
"I don't see what" –xander rubs his hand over his stubble– "the big deal is."
"You're right boss, it isn't really a big deal at all but that's the vibe. Except, my opinion doesn't count on this." Mr Dum fixes his eyes in the air avoiding his bosses eye contact
"Okay you see that right there, is a NO! NO! emotional blackmail and I'm definitely not playing that game." Xander smiles at Mr Dum, winging his fingers.
"Hahahaha! Hahahaha!" They bursts in laugh, hopping into the car as Mr Dum drives off.
Walking into the saloon, he is greeted by the familiar smell of aftershave and hair tonic. Xander closes his eyes and let the barber do his magic, enjoying the feeling of the warm lather on his face and the sharp scrape of the razor.
Few minutes later, Just after they had a wonderful time in the saloon, they bolt for an exquisite suite store in the city.
"I will take it from here, you just go home." Xander says as soon as they were out of the suite store, not wanting to disclose the identity of whoever he was going on the dinner date with."
"Sure you will be okay sir--"
"Sure."
"Then that's fine by me. Thank you sir."
....
Looking sharp and polished, Xander settles on a classic black tuxedo, paired with a crisp white shirt and a black silk tie as he sits at the table, staring out of the grand windows that overlooked the city. The exquisite restaurant is dimly lit, but the soft light only added to the ambiance. The table was set with the finest china and the waiters were dressed in crisp white uniforms. The sound of soft music and the gentle chatter of the other diners filled the room.
His thoughts were interrupted as Susan walks in through the door in his direction with a confident stride, her eyes locked onto his. He is immediately taken aback by her stunning beauty. Her curves, accentuated by the form-fitting dress she wore, and her long, dark hair cascaded down her shoulders. He can't believe, he had never noticed her like this before.
As she approaches the table, she smiles warmly at him, Xander immediately stands up and adjusts the opposite seat for her.
As she sits down, she can't help but take in the beauty of the restaurant. She looks around in awe, taking in the elegant decor and the exquisite details. "This place is amazing," she says, her eyes wide with wonder.
"Yes...but not as beautiful as you look this evening."
"Thanks sir... You're looking handsome yourself." Her voice, soft and her eyes, fixed on the table instead of Xander, sitting in front of her
"Thanks, I try." Xander straightens his suite with beams of pride. " So what would you like to have."
"Waiter! The menue please."
Trying to stay cool and not over do or take advantage of the blissed moment, "i think, i'll go with whatever you're having on the menue, sir."
"You can't be serious right now." He looks at her, surprised that she didn't even take advantage of the question and ordered for the whole menue.
Still shocked, looking at her but is interrupted by the waiter, "sir!...sir! the menue is here." He blinks his eyes, realising his self, "okay... We'll be having pizza and chill soft drinks."
"At your service." The waiter steps out immediately.
"Thanks for accepting to come out on this dinner night with me. This is me saying, I'm really sorry for judging you too fast. Just that all my life, ever since the demise of my parents, "he exhales with mugged smile." May their souls rest in peace."
Her face turns downtroddened for a second, hearing this."I'm so sorry about that sir."
"It's okay, they're gone, mm-hmm... life goes on."
Xander continues "I haven't really had anyone do anything good for me without an auterior motive attached except for Ketty, so you can't blame me for--"
"It's okay sir, I understand perfectly now and I'm sorry if I gave you that impression as well but trust me, I was never going to ask for anything from you, besides, you pay me well enough for the job I render."
"Mm-hmm, you're right." Xander smiles and nods calmly. "Well...enough of all the office talks and let's do justice to this innocent sweet looking pizza."
"Right–"
"Yeah, offcourse." Xander responds with a wide smile as they put their cutleries to work.
A blissed moment like this, a genuine smile while in a dinner date with someone else that's not Ketty was definitely an impossible mission for Xander not until this moment.
"Mm-hmm" –she shakes her head–"this tastes so delicious. The cooks here are all game in."
With the piece of pizza in Xander's mouth, he tries to be audible enough. "Yeah..they try."
Wow, so behind the stern and rigid actions at work, he can be this jovial and interesting after all, she thought as she finds herself completely captivated by his unique sense of humor.
Observing the sudden switch to silence as Susan wasn't uttering a word, he asks. "Are you okay? Did I do anything wrong or say anything i wasn't meant to say? You just gre cold all of a sudden?"
"No...not at all." She replies with hesitation, not wanting to spill the real deal of what she thought. "Just that, none tastes better than mom's home made food."
His shoulders slumps, he sighs. "Yeah...you're right. I can't even remember how that tastes."
