Seeing the sad look on Xander's face the moment she talked about mom's food, she smirks, "I"m so sorry I didn't mean for it to come out that way."
"No... It's fine. I'm good now, atleast I've lived fifteen years of my life as an independent young man. What more could break me?"
Susan chuckles in surprise. "Wow...fifiten years all by yourself, that must have being a really difficult time for you out there alone."
"You don't wanna know about it." He giggles and roll his eyes. " But that's all past tense now."
"Yeah... Cheers to the present and a better future." They both toast their glass tumbler cups of soft drinks in the air with beams of excitement.
Few minutes later...
Still drinking, Xander finds himself completely captivated by Susan that as he glances at his wrist watch, he couldn't believe how much he enjoyed her company and her sparkling conversation, surprised that they had already spent hours and it's looks like they are just getting started. "It's getting late, I guess you should be on your way home."
"Sure. I'll just book a cab already."
He quickly chimes in without hesitation. "While not I drop you off instead?"
"No... I'll do just fine booking a cab." She smiles and shakes her head.
Hoodhinking her into accepting, he says, "please don't say No, it's already getting late and I'm the reason, you're still out by this time, so i take full responsibility on your well presently."
"You sure don't take No for an answer right?"
He clears his throat in pride. "Mm-hmm. I try."
"Okay. You win. I'll go with you." Susan smiles and puts back her phone in her bag.
He gives her a thumb up with a small smile. " Now you're talking! That reminds me, don't you care for any take home? I could get one for you."
"Naa..not at all." She waves her hand and shakes her head. "I'm filled already."
"Okay.Excuse me. I'll be back in a GIFI." Xander wipes his mouth and stands up to go sort out the bills.
He is actually a nice man after all. No wonder Ava is on and on about him. He sure do knows how to treat a lady right. She thought but her thoughts were interrupted as Xander approaches the table after he was done offsetting the bills, he asks susan;
"Shall we–"
"Yes we shall sir." Susan stands up as he shot the door behind him on their way out.
Driving home, she can't help but reflect on how different her boss seemed outside of the office. He was kind, thoughtful, and considerate, completely unlike the rude and insensitive man she had always thought he was. She realizes that she had been judging him based on her own assumptions and prejudices.
"We're here sir! This is where I stay," she points out to the building on the right. Xander comes to a stop immediately."Nice apartment you have here."
"Okay. I hope you did enjoy your dinner and this was worth your time this night. Less i forget, you look gorgiously stunning tonight."
She lowers her thick eye lashes, casting shadows under her eyes for a while and finally raising her head. "Thanks sir, you too, have a nice dress sense, I must say, I love the suite."
"Really? Thanks too." Xander responds
"You're welcome sir."
She leanes in closer to Xander and whispers, "thanks sir, I had a wonderful time tonight." Xander feels a rush of happiness and replies, "same here. I had a great time too."
"I guess this is where we say goodnight." Xander mutters as he unlocks he door.
"Goodnight?!
Sitting inside the car there with Xander, she couldn't help but admit the fact that their conversation had been easy and effortless and not tensed as she had imagined earlier. As the night comes to a close, she couldn't bear the thought of it ending. Why not you come inside with me."
"Can I ask for a favour?" Susan says, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Of course," xander replies, leaning in closer.
Hesitating for a moment before nodding. "Please sir I will love for you to come, for atleast water or even a drink. Please don't misunderstand me, it's your first time in my house" she says, her heart pounding in her chest.
"Are you sure about that? He responds brazenly even if he didn't see that coming.
"Yes offcourse, it will be an honour and privilege to have you around." There both eyes hinted at their relief as he reluctantly agrees, not wanting to look rude, they step out.
Walking hand in hand with Xander to her apartment, she feels like she is on top of the world, a feeling a mix of emotions as they made their way to her apartment. She couldn't believe that she had agreed to have dinner with him, and now she is walking home with him.Her rude boss, now in her apartment.
"Welcome to my little home, " she says calmly as he opens the door, setting her hand bang down on the chair.
Xander steps in, struck by the warm and inviting atmosphere, lost in awe of the simple not too big but lit room, decorated with well designed furnitures."Simple but fascinating. A lovely home you've got over here."
"Thanks sir...I try." She mimics Xander, laughing and Xander can't withhold the joy in seeing her smile, he joins her. Both laughing. She cuts in after a while, "what would you like to have sir?
"Errrrm.." Xander taps his chin, racking.
"Red wine, chilled water–"
He relaxes his arms on his laps, as he shakes his head sideways, considering for a moment before responding, "I'll have the wine, please. It's been a long day and we could use something to unwind."
"Make yourself comfortable sir, I'll be right back."
Coming out of the kitchen with a chilled Wine in her hands."Wine it is then."
Susan nods and leads him into the dinning room, where a bottle of red wine and two glasses were waiting on the dinning table. She pours him a glass and handed it to him before pouring one for herself.
