His personal adviser

1017 Words
Standing close to the entrance door of his office, an elderly lady with deep dark brown eyes. Her waist clinched in and her hips flared out in a way that was both sensual and elegant. Wearing a fitted dress that hugged every inch of her body, accentuating her every curve, smiling in a very mischievous way as she gradually moves towards his table. Aunty Tina, Xander's aunty. His late mother's elder sister, he lived with after the demise of his parents. His eyebrows furrow, giving him a wrinkled brow. His mouth, set in a tight line and his lips, pressed together firmly. His eyes are narrow and piercing. He feels a knot form in the pit of his stomach. "Hello, Xander," Aunt Tina says, her voice soft and gentle. "It's been a long time–" "That doesn't answer the question." He chimes in."Who let you in here?!" Aunt Tina simply smiles at him, her eyes crinkling at the corners. "Your secretary let me in, dear. She knows I'm here to see you. Now, don't be rude. Invite me to sit down atleast." Xander scowls. "Not until you tell me why you're here," he demands. "And what do you want? I know you didn't come here just to catch up." Aunt Tina chuckles teasingly at his fuss. "Oh, Xander. You're just like your father, always so suspicious. Can't a woman just drop by to see her nephew?" Xander crosses his arms over his chest. "Not when that woman is you. So, what do you want?" He insists, his jaws groaning unresistantly. He knows this visit is definitely no good news. 'How can this be' he brushes off his face with his palm to be sure he isn't lost in his imaginations or perhaps his hyped Monday morning was still a dream after all.. But unfortunately, as his opens his eyes, the elderly curvy blonde still stands in front, looking at him? He ponders, dumbfounded at her sudden appearance after so many years. He never saw it coming, at least not for a good-looking Monday as he expected. She was never on his list for sight, ever in his life. Xander's anger dissipates as quickly as it had come. He gestures to one of the chairs in front of his desk as he retires back to his seat. "Now you're talking." She shakes her head. "Smart boy. I just wanted to stop by and see how you're doing." Xander raises an eyebrow. "Really? That's it? After all these years, you just wanted to check in on me?" "Yes, of course." Her expression softens. "You're my nephew, Xander. I've always cared about you, even if we haven't seen each other in a while." Xander nods slowly, still a bit suspicious of his aunt's motives. But he decides to give her the benefit of the doubt. "Well, I appreciate it. I'm doing well. Thank you for asking." "That's good to hear." She nods, a small smile on her lips. "So, is she the one?" "I don't know what you're talking about," he says, trying to play dumb to her question. "Don't lie to me, Xander. I can see it in your eyes. You're in love with her, aren't you?" She insists, tapping her fingers gently on the desk. With a stern look on Xander's face, he stares at her for a while and later takes off his eyes. "You see nothing." ... Susan walks out of Xander's office, her face alight with a huge grin when she bumps into Ava on the walkway. A mixture of confusion and anger growing inside Ava as she had already seen her come out Xander's office. She marches up to Susan to find out what had put such a big smile on her face. "What's going on?" Ava asks, her tone sharper than she intended. "What's making you so happy?" Susan's smile only grew wider. "Oh, Ava, you won't believe what just happened. Mr Xander called me into his office earlier and told me he wants me to be his personal adviser." Ava's eyes narrows. "His personal adviser?" she repeats, trying to keep the annoyance out of her voice. She forces a smile, even though inside she was seething. "That's great news! Susan. Congratulations." As Susan walks away, Ava stands there, her thoughts in a jumble. How could he appoint someone who had only just joined the company as his personal adviser? This isn't fair at all. So what happens to the rest of us who've been working at the company for years. With her mind made up, she strolls, heading to Xander's office. ------ "You're the least person I expect to see at my work space. That brings me to how you were able to locate this address." Xander asks Aunt Tina. "Really? Is that a task, too?" She sighs and shakes her head. "You should know your Aunt Tina by now. She gets whatever she wants." "Indeed. Well... News flash, that doesn't apply here, dear aunt." Xander quickly cuts in. "Aunt Tina, as you can see, I was busy before you came in. As much as I appreciate your visit, I have a lot of work to do. I really need to ask you to leave." She raises an eyebrow. "Busy with what?" Xander crosses his arms. "It doesn't matter, Aunt Tina. The point is, I have a lot to do and I need to focus. Can you please leave so I can get back to work?" "I know, I know. Work, work, work, just like his father. I guess we'll call it a day. See you around." She smirks with beams of mischief. She stands up from her seat, ready to leave Xander's office. As she reaches for the door handle, the door suddenly bursts open and Ava walks in with a worried look on her face, her chest heaving and her face red with anger. She stumbles over to Xander's desk. "Why Susan? Sir." Ava asks, trying to keep her voice steady. Xander looks up from his desk, a hint of surprise in his eyes. "Yes, Ava? What about Susan?"
