"Hmmmm," he exhales, continuing with a straight voice. "You do remember who you are speaking with, right?" He overs the phone speaker to laugh out loud so she doesn't hear that. With fear filled in her heart, she realises herself and stammers as she replies. "No sir, I meant no disregard. I apologize for my insolence." Behaving so formal with him, and just then he cuts her off before she says another thing. "What? you are so formal all of a sudden. Come on, Susan am kidding with you." "You know nobody respects me and helps me out the way you do. Some persons who have helped me in the past, did so by taking advantage of my good nature and since then I have been so careful or should I say meticulous with my behaviour towards people. But getting to know you, I have regained my sense of laughter and joy. Thank you." So shocked as she has never seen her boss in that manner as someone so emotional. She quietly mutters. "Hmmm, sir, it's my pleasure talking with someone of you status and who would think that you are this free. I understand that sometimes you have to be uptight lest you be played with. If I in any way misjudged you, forgive me, sir." Just as she ends her talk with a bridge, he replies to her. Chuckling, "Alright please drop the formal act and emotional talk, please talk free with me as always. You can't tell what it does to me." He laughs. And the conversation goes on, with Xander and Susan getting to know each other better, sharing stories and laughs, and discovering common interests. Chatting back and forth for a while, catching up on each other's lives and commiserating over the rainy weather. Talking about their favorite books and movies, their favorite bands, and all of that. Xander finds himself laughing and joking with Susan, feeling a lightness in his heart that he hadn't felt in a while. He glanced at the clock and realized with a start that it was well past midnight. He had completely lost track of time. Notwithstanding, they still talked for hours, until finally, they both yawn. "Well, I should probably let you go," Susan says with a smile in her voice. "It's getting pretty late." Xander nods, feeling a bit disappointed that the conversation is ending. "Yeah, I guess I should get some sleep, too." He pauses for a moment before speaking. "Hey Susan, this was really nice. Do you want to do this again sometime?" Susan, not wanting to over expect and over think things, simply says out "Never. Just work talk next time, sir." she says with a sarcastic face, emoji. In amazement, he loudly says without holding back, "Never! As in, never being this close or?" He asks with disappointing spirit. Susan laughs out loud then replies to him to avert him thinking that she is one of those who will play with his feelings of being friendly. "It's a joke. You pulled a nice one so I can say I learnt from the best." "You! Ahhhhh. Yeah, you really learnt from the best. But for now, I'm just enjoying the sound of the rain." He exclaims to her as a response to her joke, while looking out of the window. Susan replies in a polite manner, "Me too. It's so calming." Not realizing that even after they were prepared to bid on themselves tonight, they continued to discuss as teenagers that are getting to know themselves after meeting for the first time. Xander continued to wish that they call never ended, and there his wish was coming through Susan is no longer saying anything about going to bed. He anxiously starts to bring up questions to delay and tease her. He starts with. "Hey, have you ever danced in the rain?" Now she could see that he wants to see how experienced she was and now she has to protect herself not to be seen less. She might be thinking of defending herself but never knew she had fallen into his plan of talking longer time with her. In an explicit manner, she quickly answers, "I haven't. Have you?" "Maybe. So, what about you? Have you ever danced in the rain?" He smiles genuinely as they talk and answers he "No, I haven't. But I'd love to try it sometime. So we are one in this as we haven't experienced this before, so what do you say about that?" "Don't worry, I already got everything covered. Well, if we ever get caught in the rain together, maybe we can give it a try." He laughs out non-stop, waiting to hear her reply. She quickly assimilates what he said and then she says in reply to him, "Haha, I'd like that." He was happy at their level of communication, but he still doesn't want to play a meaning to it, other than good friends. He turns around and notices it's very late. He immediately remembers that he has a jolt of work in the morning and he doesn't want to affect the hardworking efforts of Susan. "Anyway, it's getting late. We should probably get some rest. Thanks for the chat, Susan." He thanks her as he puts it out that it's late and she should grab some rest, as tomorrow is another day for work. She slackly replies him while yawning as a sign of tiredness. "Yeah, you're right. Thanks for keeping me company. Good night, sir." She covers up well politely. "Good night, Susan. We will definitely do this often. Life's too short to not enjoy it with someone special." Mr. Xander smiles more. Susan replies, as she can't agree more. "Hey, do you want to grab lunch together sometime this week? And perhaps continue this conversation?" "Sure. That sounds great! I would love to get to know you better outside of the office." She quickly say "Me too, Sir. Me too." Before the call got disconnected. Just then, Mr Xander and Susan look at their phone before lying down and both realize that Ava has called several times. "What could be the reason for this late night call?"
