Control is a slow burn

Damien didn't sleep that night. Not really. He lay in bed, shirtless and restless, replaying every detail of his encounter with Lena. Her voice. The tilt of her head. The way she looked at him like she already owned every one of his secrets. And maybe she did. She hadn't touched him, not even once. And still, his body ached like she'd marked it. By morning, he was out of sorts. Not hungover, just...edgy. His assistant noticed the minute he walked into his office. "Rough night, Mr. Black?" she asked carefully, handing him a folder. "Something like that," he muttered, flipping it open and not seeing a word. He spent the day snapping at people who didn't deserve it and rewriting the same email three times. He wasn't used to distraction. He didn't allow it. But Lena had gotten under his skin, slick and effortless. At lunch, Ryan called. "So? How'd it go?" Damien exhaled. "She's..." "Hot?" "More than that. She's the kind of woman who asks if you're really breathing or just pretending to." Ryan chuckled. "You're screwed." "Yeah." That night, Damien found himself driving without direction until his car pulled up in front of a jazz lounge Lena had mentioned offhandedly. He didn't even remember deciding to come. It was quiet inside. Classy. Dark lighting. Velvet booths. A live band eased saxophone into the air like it was meant to seduce the walls. And there she was. Lena. In black. Always black. Sleeveless, fitted, with a slit high enough to be cruel. She was sitting at the bar, sipping wine, her eyes scanning a paperback novel like the room didn't exist. He walked up, slowly. "You follow all your blind dates, Damien?" "Only the ones who haunt me." She closed the book, looked at him over the rim of her glass. "Do you want something?" He nodded. "Yes." She waited. "And what is it you want?" He leaned in, his voice low. "For you to tell me what I am when you look at me. Because I think you already know." Her gaze didn't waver. "You're a man used to being wanted, but not seen. You want to give in, but only on your terms. And you're afraid I won't let you." Silence stretched, thick and charged. "You're right," he said finally. She smiled then, truly smiled. "Good boy." The words landed like a punch to his chest. He wanted her. And she knew it. "Do you trust me?" Lena's voice was velvet and heat, her fingertips grazing the edge of his jaw. They were back at her apartment-sleek, minimalist, scented faintly with sandalwood and something floral he couldn't name. It was past midnight, and Damien was beyond pretending he had control anymore. "Do I have a choice?" he said, voice rough. She leaned in, her breath ghosting over his ear. "You always have a choice. But if you want me-truly want me-you'll give it up." Damien nodded, slowly. She stepped back, unbuttoned his shirt with slow, precise movements. Every second stretched long. His chest rose and fell under her touch, and when she reached his belt, he closed his eyes. She didn't undo it. Instead, she walked away, heels echoing against the floor. "Strip. Then kneel. Face the window." He opened his eyes, heartbeat thunderous. He hesitated. One. Two. Three seconds. Then he obeyed. The room was cool against his bare skin. Damien knelt, muscles tight, his pulse thudding in his throat. From behind, he could hear the soft rustle of silk, the clink of glass-Lena moving in her own rhythm, unhurried. "Close your eyes," she said. He did. There was a pause. Then her fingers brushed over his shoulders, trailing down his arms, across the sharp lines of his back. She didn't rush. She explored. Like she was learning a map she already knew but wanted to memorize by touch. "I like how still you get when you want something," she whispered. "It's honest." He swallowed. A blindfold slipped over his eyes-smooth, satin, tied firm but not cruel. Her hands stayed on his skin, her breath ghosting his neck. Then she was gone again. The silence was loud. His body buzzed with tension. Something cool touched his lips-a piece of fruit. He parted them, tasting dark cherry, tart and sweet. Her fingers lingered at his mouth a second longer than necessary. "You're not used to waiting," she murmured. "No," he admitted. "You're learning." Her hand cupped his jaw, firm, grounding. Then a soft kiss, right at the corner of his mouth. Not enough. Never enough. When her body finally pressed against his, his exhale shook. She didn't guide him to touch her. She made him feel her-all of her-with how she moved around him, how she controlled the air they shared. "Do you want me to take you apart, Damien?" He nodded, breathless. "Yes." "Say it." "I want you to take me apart." "Good boy." That night, she didn't let him finish. Not fully. Not yet. She kissed him hard. Bit his lip. Drew pleasure out like a secret he wasn't ready to confess. And when she finally left him in her bed, bound in pleasure and frustration, she whispered: "Next time, I'll make you beg." Damien didn't doubt her for a second.
